meadow. There waa a beat at tbe
place and they took It out In
tbe creek te dire from. In the parly
was Edward Flery, son et Dallas Flery,
grocer of West Chestnut street. This
young man waa net much Of a swimmer,
but he managed te gel cut te the middle of
the stream. Suddenly his friends were
startled by his cries for help and they
noticed that he waa sinking. Christ Cruder
wma the first person te reach htm and he
caught htm by the balr, which however
waa tee short te preTlde a hand held, Aa
Flery struggled he clntebed Bruder,
who wat arrald that he might be drawn
under the water also. Arthur Frlngle,
another of the party, dived from the beat
finally and eiught Flery under tbe arms
Ha held blm until Bruder and Harry
Strtne came te his assistance, and the three
managed te get him te the ihere. Flery
sunk several tlmea while In tbe stream and
would have perished In a short time,
