o'clock, In the 76th year of her age. Daath
waa caused by congestion et the brain alter
short lllneca. Mr. Klcharda waa born
la iAncaater; her maiden name being
Bewman. Bhewas married in 1839 and
came te Columbia. Alter living here ler
five years Mr. and Mra. Klcharda moved
te Lancaster. They returned te Colum
bia In 1301, and aha has been living
here ever slnce. Hhe has bcen a
widow alnce ISCft. Thore were originally
alx children, two of whom, Samuel U. and
Allen, are dead. The children living are
Mr. Gee. 11., Miss Clarissa, Mr. Orlck
Richards ana Mrs. Edward U. Eckman.
Fer many years Mrs. Klcharda was on en
gaged in the confectlonrry and line coke
buslnese en locust atreet. Bhe had a large
clrele et triendp, and was xvldely known In
tlla county. The iuneral amngetnents
have net yet been completed.
May MeFarlan, aged 12 yearn, adaugbler
of M. M. McFarlan, died this morning at 1
o'clock. The death was caused from dlph
therla after an Illness of ene week. The
funeral will be held en Wednesday after
noon. la the Churches.

The annual Chlldren'a Day waa held In the
Presbyterian and Methodist onurcues,
while in the Trinity lleformed the Sunday
school held their 41th anniversary. The
new bell was dedicated in Salem Iiutberan
church, when Kev. K. lluber, of Baltimore,
waa present. In HI Jehn's Lutheran the
Btwly-elccted pastor and church cllloeis
were installed. In the Second Street
Lutheran Rev. Vf. 8. llinman, the new
paater, preached his first acrmen.
In all the churches the decorations were
yery elaborate and the Children's Day pro pre
grammes were very Interesting.
