Henry Werlz, proprietor of the Susque
hanna hotel In Washington borough, was
erkmsly hurt en Saturday by being gered
by a bull. The bull waa being driven past
hla place and suddenly attacked the man.
He waa knocked against a fence and one
born entered the aide of hla face, producing
an ugly wennd and ripping open a great
part of the left cheek. Dr. W. U. wniciey
gare the injured man attention. The ani
mal died In 20 minutes after the accident
from cyer-beating.

On Sunday evening, Br. B. F. Allemnn
of St. Jehn's Lutheran church, preached a
special aermen te the Wemen'a Foreign
and Heme missionary aecletlea. The ser
mon waa a long one, occupying mere than
aa hour and a quarter In ita dell very. The
subject was "The Women in the Bible."
The doings of the most notable women
mentioned In the Scriptures were happily
referred te and their lives and aervlces
compared with the lives of the Christian
women of te-day. While Kev. Alleman
held that women aheuld net preach nor
held high places In the church, he held that
their Influence In subordinate positions was
Of the utmost Importance. Many Instances
were given In which the lniluence of
women with their husbands had vrorked
great geed for the cause of the church.

Corener Henaman waa notified en Satur
day afternoon te held an Inquest en the
body of Fanny Keesy, Infant daughter of
Andrew M. Keesy, living en New street.
The child was Bleeping when the parents
getnp in the morning and a few hours
afterwards when Mrr. Keesy went te leek
at her, she was dead. U. B, Springer, Jehn
D. Lull, Charles E. Auxer, B. Wright, B.
F Norten and Christian Kudy, the coro
ner's Jury, rendered a verdict that death re
sulted from convulsions.
Deputy Corener Smith, et Csney town
ship, te-dsy tiled the Inquisition In the cate
of Harry McCarty, aged five month?, who
WM also found dead In his cradle, Iht
verdict of the Jury was that death resulted
from natural cause a.

David Ring's Injuries.
After the death of David King his aen,
Dr. Geerge A. King, with Dra. M, U.Jtnd
B. T. Davis, assisted by Herbert Bewers, a
student of Dt. King, madttan autopsy of
the body. It will be remembered that Mr.
King received hla Injuries by falling down
the stairs In his Bleep. He lived for four
weeks after the accident The autopsy
developed a remarkable case, The phyal
clans found that the third vertebrae
of the neck waa fraeturcd and dislocated.
The reason that death did net result
seen was that the fracture did net press
upon any vital part. Death waa certain,
however, and only a queatlen et time when
It would ocaur.There have been cases where
persons with similar Injuries have lived for
aeveral days, or even a week. While Mr.
King was lying bedfast Ave almllar casea
occurred, In which the Injured persona
died In a very aherttlme. Denny Mack's
Injury waa of the same kind, and
he lived but alt hours. The case of
Mr. Ktng Is considered is wonderful snd
the physlelana who made the autopsy will
bring U te the attention or the Medical
axlety at the meeting en Wedneaday when
a mere detailed account of It will be given.
Jehn O. Mnladla's Vensral.
The luneral of Jehn O, Shlndle, who was
killed by the cars Thursday evening, took
place from A. O. Bete's undertaking es
tablishment, Sunday morning. Among
tboae in attendance were a great many
clgarmakers and ether frlenda of the de
ceased, llev. Houpt oenduotod the service
and the Interment waa made at Lancaster
oemetery. The only member of Shlcdlc'a
fsmlly that waa piesent wss his eldest son
William, who came from Blnghamten Hun
day morning. He knew nothing of the
manner of his father's death until he ar
here and was greatly anrprlsed. SUllglent

collected by Philip Bernard, who donervcs
thogreatest eredlt for this kind act. Shlndle
was in the employ of Mr. Bernard for a
number of years as a clgarmaker.
Cut An Artery.
William Lawrence, kahoemaker at Uasl's
shoe atore en North Queen street, met with
n painful accident thla morning. He was
trying te breau the point en a knife with a
pair or plncerp, when the knlfe allpped and
struck him en the right wrist, cutting an
artery. The wound bled profusely and
was attended by Dr. Welebans, after which
Lswrence was taken te hla home en North
Christian street.
