IksA'erM Amtriean Setiew, say a that "the
reseat power of organized knavery In our
ettjr poilUea eemee chiefly from two sources
ret, our present methods of nominatien:
ad second, our present method et balloting
end the attendant personal expenses or a
canvass." In order te remedy this, Mr. Rtee
saakM these suggestions In the conduit et
lectiens: (1) That any person receiving the
recommendation et one-tenth et the qualified
voters tn any district shall be deemed a
candidate ; (2) the names el such candidate
te be printed at the publte expense en a illp
te be furnished the voter when he comes te
the polls ; (3) the voter te retire te a secret
oempartment and erase from the slip the
names of these whom he does net with te
vote for; (4) the manner in which the voter
has voted te be kept entirely secret by
legal safeguards. Mr. Rlee's suggestions
are worth careful conalderatlei, particularly
the second, wherein it is believed that the
payment of all necessary expenses by the
county or state would make It unnecessary
te assess candidates and thus place peer men
running for office en a level with rich ones.
Tem CoerKR evidently thinks the opinion
of Lancaster county delegates may be safely
ignored.
If Alderman Hersbey during some of bis
span moments would read and carefully
ponder the following, from the act of assem

cial results :
"IianyJuMloe,clerk,'pretbointary, sheriff,
