Colombia Electrle Light and Power com
pany have had the contract, and tbe streets
were well lighted. Tbelr contract will ex
pire en tbe Bret of October, and the company
are again bidders. Tee Columbia Uaa com
pany are also bidders, having preeented their
proposal at tbe last meeting et council. Tbe
system et lighting te be adopted forma the
main toplcef conversation. Many people favor
tbe present system ei illumination, while
ethera are In support et gas. Fer tbe benefit
et all, the following proposals are printed,
and tbe estimated coat of each system : The
Columbia gas company will furnish 100 or
mere lamps six feet burners, trem dark te
midnight, at f 12 50 per lamp ; all night every
dark nlgbt, FJ0 per lamp ; every night In
tbe year fii yer lamp. Fer an additional
sum of f5 per lsmp per year tbe company
will repair and keep in repair all lamps new
In position and put In new lamps wherever
required ; all the lamps te be the property of
the borough at tbe end or the con
