Frederick Wllbelm, the well-known
auctioneer, met with an accident last night
that might have resulted aerieusly. While
returning from Kawltesvllle colored camp
meeting about 10 o'clock, bis team ran Inte a
dltcb by the roadside; and being thrown te
tb ground the front wheel of the heavily
leaded wagon passed ever his arm and
shoulder, but the bersns were luckily stepped
Just then, and Mr. Wilhelm escaped with
only a few bruises and scratches.

Square early, where they formed In line.
Headed by the Metropolitan hand, or Co
lumbia, they marched up North Queen street
te the station and presented a line appear appear

blue shirts. Arriving ht the depot they
bearded a special car which bore large pieces
of canvas en either side with the words
"Chesapeake Camping Club of Lancaster,
Pa." The members of the club leaving were

On Thursday arternoen there was a very
heavy rainstorm in Ceney township and the
several streams In that section rose te un
usual height, ever Mewing their banks and
doing much damage te the growing crops
and ether property. Trees were tern from
their roots, fences carried away, tobacco and
cornfields washed, the railroad tracks con
siderably damaged, and the cinal binks in
the vicinity of Bain bridge broken in several
places.
The storm at KeRen, New Providence, Quar
ry ville and ether places south of Lancaster
wm almost equally severe, the fall of rain
being Immense and the helOs and reads
badly washed. The less in the corn and
tobacco Melds Is quite heavy.
On Friday afternoon there was a very
heavy rainstorm at Blrd.ln-Uand and vicinity,
but m it was unaccompanied by wind, very
littledamage was done.
The severest storm of thunder and llgbt
niug ever known at Drumore Centre took
place Saturday afternoon about 4 o'clock.
Great balls el tire fell from the clouds and as
tbey struck trees or ether objects, made
deafenlni; reports louder thau whole batteries
of artillery. A large oak tree near the hotel
was shattered, and a wagon tongue from
which a boy bad but a moment before un
hitched the horses, was shivered Inte a
thousand fragments. The rain poured
down in torrents.
During the severe storm early en Saturday
morning 2'4 inches of water is reported te
have fallen In one hour in Philadelphia.
A tremendous thunder 'enu visited Kas Kas
ten and the surrounding district In Pennsyl
vania and New Jersey, en Stturd ay after
noon. The house or Geerge Fex, station
agent at Manuuka Chunk, v, is undermined
b a rush of water from the tunnel and
wrecked. Mrs. Fex's mother and her niece,
Mrs. Beers, were killed.

Fer Berne time It has been the custom of
tramps te encamp lu Henry Miller's weeds,
near Lltitz, and the neighbors have become
tired of tbem. This morning Olllcers Barn Barn
held, Leinan and Weaver drove out te Lltitz
and at an early hour surprised the gentle
men el the read. Ten men were quickly
gathered in and brought te this city In
an omnibus and ether vehicles. They
were takeu before Alderman Barr, where
they gave their names as Herman Ueuniuh,
Henry Neobe, Henry Zilg, Philip Miller,
Henry Brown, Geerge Fullmer, Fred Unger,
Lee Jacobs, (net the Ltucastriau of that
name) Joaeph Schilling and Jehn Jehnsen.
They were committed te prison en the charge
of disorderly conduct and they will likely
be held ler being tramps. Lltitz la a bad
neighborhood for tramps who want te get oft
with less than three years.

Urluh Uagans, of Htrasburg borough, died
at bla lata residence en Saturday last, in tbe
aid year of bis age. He had been sick for
ever a year, Mr. Uagans wm highly re
spected and well-known In hia neighborhood.

ren survive. The funeral will take place en

narrowly escaped death at the bands of her

The married lire of the couple bad been very
unhappy, and six weeks age Mrs. Hluey
separated from her husband and took up her
residence with a brother-in-law resldiug lu

tered suit sgaiust her husband for mainten
ance and be hearing of it determined te kill
her. As she snd her brother-in-law were
leaving home lu a wagon, Hiuey tired two
shots at his wife and precipitately lied, no

clothing, but she wm net hurt The would

veloping. '1 he demand for freight cars has
increased se rapidly within tbe past week

have been taxed beyond their capacity. Net

Increasing dally.

The workmen en several beuses being
built In Marietta, Ga., felt the heat te a degree
that almeat rendered It impossible for them
te continue work. Mr. Murray, a carpenter
working for Mr. Miller en Mr. Frank
Nerthcutl'a beuse, became sick, the perspira
tion almost ceased te Mew, but, strange te
say, bleed oozed from tbe top of his head
profusely. He washed it etl, aud seen his
hair became clotted with bked again. The
sweating of bleed seemed le give him relief.
He quit work and went home. Several gen
tlemen witnessed this strange occurrence
and vouch for its truth.

Falsi Powder Mill Explosion.
Tho.maste.v, Me, July 25 The Warren
powder mill blew up this morning at H
o'clock. They bad started up the kernelling
mill, in which were 30 kegs of powder tbree
minutes previous te the explosion. Geerge
Sbepperd, a workman, aged :W, wm instantly
killed, being literally tern in pieces. The
explosion wm beard for many miles around.
The same mill wm blown up last February.
