yeeraage the church was remodeled and ex

mained until 1814, when he was sui-ceeded
by Bar. Stephen Beyer. The following

ixed for active rellgleua work, including
mission and temperance. Societies are or
ganlzed among tbe adult and young portion
of the congregation. Tbe church iscenstantly
growing and is in an excellent financial con
dition. Tbe sermon was an eloquent effort
and was listened te with marked attention.

Englishman, in 1800. Among tbe attendants
was Samuel B. Heine, who joined tbe Pres
byterian Sunday school alter its organization
and waa very active in ail church work, dying
about two years age. Tbe Presbyterian
school waa organized about one month alter
tbe starting of the cburcb, but tunny of the
records are missslng. Since Its organizttlen
the school bas bad eleven superintendents
and the historian gave a brlet sketch of each.
Jehn McKlsslck waa tbe first one In cbsrge.
The primary department was organized in
1858 with 50 children and bas grown te 135
In 1825 tbe main school bad 118 attendants
and baa grown te 335 children, 21 teachers
and 12 eillcera. Tbe sotieol is in excel loot
financial condition and has contributed large
amounts te mission work. Mr. Yecuui was
followed by Colonel D. B. Case, who was tbe
superintendent of tbe infant department
from 1S71 te 1880.; Tbe speaker made a brief,
interesting address. Tbe exercises closed
with singing by the congregation and tbe
benediction.
The anniversary observance will be con cen
tlnued this evening by a social reunion,
when a pleasant time will be had.

A slim audience witnessed tbe excellent
ahoetlog exhibition given by Win. F. Carver
and Jehn C. Brewer. These present, bow
aver, were amply repaid for their attendance.

at a distance of eighty feet with a rise of thirty
leer, between Dr. Carver and Capt. Brewer.

tion waa (fleeted by electing W. K. Seltzer,
esq., chairman and Dr. D. K. Hertz secre
tary. W. K. Seltzer, esq , in well chenen
werdaandln a very pleasant and lengthy
manner, stated tbe object of the meeting te
be te see what encouragement the citizens of
this place would give te tbe project and te con
aider the advantages or disadvantages which
would fellow the construction of another
railroad through our town. All the leading
business men or tbe place were present and
qulle a number expressed themselves aa
heartily In favor of tbe new read. Tbe Inter
est manifested clearly showed that Kpbrata'a

Bosten. Nundsy she was taken te the county

asylum, violently Insane. Tun unfortunate

superintendent of the Pennsylvania iron
works, of which William U Klklus, of Phil
adelphia, is president. She is rather s hand
some little woman, Just 'Alyearaef age, and
upon the occasion et ber wedding, only two

dences of insanity. She atten led a Sunday
