Mention was made some time age that
Jehn Meyers, formerly of town, but new in
the regular army at Fert Davis, Texas,
had his skull fractured. A relative of
Meyers wrote te the war department at
Washington about the matter, receiving a
reply that it was the thigh and set tbe skull
that was fractured. The accident occurred
te Meyers by being thrown ireni a horse and
the animal tramping en him.

A reception was tendered te the friend and
members of tbe Second street Lutheran
church last evening, by Kev. and Mrs. Wil
liam P. Evans, at the parsonage en North
Second street. Upwards of SCO people were

tions trad social pastimes. A handsome bat
rack was given te Rev. Evans and bis wife
received a china dinner service of 140 pieces
and a purse of money.

The dodlcatien of the new chapel at St.
Jeseph's hospital will take place en Thurs
day, April S3, The ceremonies will be begun
at 0 a.m., by Very Kev. M. J. McBrlde, ad
ministrator of tbe diocese of Harrlsburg.
After the ceremonies a sermen in German
will be preached by Rev. Francis Newbauer,
O. M. C, et Camden, N. J. After the sermon
there will be a solemn high mass celebrated
by Rev. C. A. Keppernagle, of Harrlsburg,
assisted by Rev. A. F, Kaul, of Lancaster,
and Kev. A. Christ, of Lebanon. Kev. J. A.
Fein will be tbe master et ceremonies. Im
mediately after tbe gospel is read, a sermon
will be delivered In English by Kev. D. J.
McDermott, pastor of Hu Mark's cburcb,
Philadelphia.
In tbe afternoon at S o'clock, devotions
With benediction will take place. Tickets
for the dedication can be had at St. Jeseph's
hospital, at 8L Jeseph's school en St. Jeseph
street, and at Miss L. Fiynn's book store en
West King street, and Mr. J. Bradel's, West
Xing and Mary streets. People are requested
te buy their tickets before tbe time se that no
disturbance will be made during the services.
There are a great number of priests invited
from different dioceses, such as Harrlsburg,
Trenten, Newark, Brooklyn and Albany.
Kelfbt Templar Conclave lu Philadelphia.
One of tbe largest and most successful
Knights Templar Conclaves will be the 31th
annual gathering of the state Knights in
Philadelphia en May St and 2. Tbe annual
parade will take place en Tuesday, May Si,
at 10 o'clock a. m., and the grand comman cemman
dery will meet at 3 o'clock p. m., tbe same
day. In the evening at 8 o'clock a grand
tourneul and reception will be held at the
Academy of Muale.
Lancaster Cemmandery Ne. 13, K. T., of
tbls city, will attend the meeting, stepping at

caster at CK5 a. m , en Tuesday, accompanied
by the Bute Capital band of Harrlsburg,

delivered a forcible address en the subject,

proved interesting and profitable.

A reunion of the survivors of tbe Penusyl Penusyl
vanie Reserves corps will be held in this city
some time during tbe month of June. Last
evening a preliminary meeting te make
arrangements waa held at tbe hotel of Theo Theo
eore Wenditz, en Chestnut street, and about
twenty-tive members were present. Captain
William D. Stautler waa elected president
and M. N. Stark secretary. After a talk ever
tbe matter tbe meeting adjourned until next
Tuesday evening when tbe members will
meet again at tbe same place. On the day of
the reunion there will be a street parade and
plcnie during the day with a, banquet and
speeches In the evening. Daring tbe war
two companies el tbe reserves were recruited
In this city and one In tbe county. There are
new about forty survivors in the city.

Mrs. Bartholemew's Funeral,
The funeral of Mrs, Mary A. Bartholemew
took place tbls alternoen at 3 o'clock, there
being a large attendance el relatives and
friends. Tbere were impressive religious
services at tbe house, Ne. (24 Seuth Prince
street, conducted by Kev. J. Y. Mitchell, D.
D., and Rev. Themas Thompson, after wbicb
the remains, followed by many mourners,
were taken te Woodward Hill cemetery and
laid te rest. Tbe following named gentle
men acted as pall bearers : C. M. Hewell,
Jehn M. Biblll, II. R. Fulton, Frank Skeen,
Jehn Black, IL C. Moere, James K. Garvin
and J. L. Bauman.

I Knew a young lady en Elizabeth Farm

goods carried It about one quarter of a Mile

Prosecuted PerPerJary.
FredGettler, Jr., was granted a marriage
license en February 8, upon making affidavit
that he was ever 21 years of aga Tbls morn
ing Jehn Heed, a neighbor, made complaint
against blm for perjury. He alleges that tbe
young man was only between 1G and 17 years
old w hfn be was granted tbe license. Tbls
prosecution is the result of a difficulty be
tween tbe (Jettler and Heed families; tbe
ether branch of which was returned te court
this week.
Prosecution Withdrawn.
Rebert Celfee, a resident of Middle street,
was prosecuted ea Tuesday evening by
Jennie Dallas for assault and battery. Tbe
accused was locked up and after an incarcera
tion of an hour the prosecution before Alder
man A. F. Dennelly was withdrawn and the
defendant released upon payment of costs.
The Consent Was In German.
The clerk cf the erpbans' court granted a
license te a couple who bave only been in
the country a few weeks. Tbe lady was a
miner, but she came te tbe office prepared
wltb the consent of her father, who still lives
in Germany. Tbe consent Is a fermidsble
looking document and bears the great seal of
his country.

market this morning, which Indicates there
will be considerable tree planting In this city

Riddle was elected chairman and Jacob M.
