Death of Henry Krab.r,
Henry Kraber, a brother-in-law of the late
Oeerge W. Meldenbacb, died at hla residence
In Yerk, en Saturday, aged 65 year. Hla
funeral will take place te-morrow and the
remains will be brought te this city, In tbe
afternoon train from Yerk and Interred at
Lancaster cemetery. He had been suffering
for eeme time with cancer of the face, which
eaueed paralysis of the brain en Thursday
night, he having been found In bis chair tbe
next Booming uoeonw'oui, In which state he
remained until hla death. Mr. Krab.r was
engaged in mercantile business some fifty
years, and waa prealdent ei tbe Farmer's
fir Insurance company of Yerk from about
1855 te 1875. lie also served aa borough
treasurer and waa a member of tbe Yerk
County Iren company. He leave two sons
te aurvlve blm, Messrs. (Jeorge 11 and
Henry Kraber.

Rev. D. Behind ler, of Lancaster, Ohie,
preached In St Jehn's Lutheran church
Sunday morning and evening. He haa re
cently resigned blacbarge In Lancaster, Ohie,
and ae St Jehn's la in need or a pastor owing
te the resignation of Rev Bylvaeua Stall, It
was thought well give te Mr.Hcbtndier a hear
ing. Ha was met Sunday morning bya very
full congregation and preached an able ser
mon from the words "I am net ashamed
of the gospel of Christ" In the
evening, though the weather waa very
dlsagreable, Mr. Heblndler was greeted
by another large audience. He preached
from the text, " Blessed arc they that hunger
and thirst after righteousness for they shall
be filled.'' He was listened te with close at at
tentlea. Rev. Stall assisted at the service,
morning and evening. Mr. Behind ler lm
1 pressed these who heard blm as being an
able preacher. He la about 50 years of age,
and off tbe pulpit Is a pleasant, genial gentle
man. He will remain in Lancaster a few
days.

Policeman Jehn Mclntyre, of the Twenty
third district, Philadelphia, came te the sta
tion house Haturdey afternoon, mad with
drink. Oa entering the roll room he made a
dash for tbe pistol rack, and before any one
oeuld get near hlin, seized a pistol and began
ilrleg at Uie occupants. There waa a general
scurry for tbe doers, and In a few seconds
be was left In full poueMieu.
Lieut Lyens, who was In his private
efllce at the lime, heard the note, and en
ascertaining the oiuse from the ettlcers who
bad Just made a hurried exit, attempted te
enter tbe roll room and capture Melntyre.

lntyre recommenced tiring, and the lieu
tenant waa forced te retire. Then finding

Death la tbe nad Lamp.
At Shenandoah, an accident at William
Penn colliery resulted in tbe Instant death of
one man and the fatal Injury or another.
James McGutre, a miner, and Alexander
Leng, laborer, were employed in a tunnel,
and after preparing a blast in tbe reef Mc
Oulre'elamp, which he carried en hie head,
Ignited the fuse. While ha waa standing
uuder tbe charge of dynamite It exploded
with frightful effect, burying MeUulre's body
under a mass or rock and mutilating It In a
terrible manner. Leug was a few yards
away, but was shockingly cut and bruised by
the Hying f ragmen ta of reek.

Court met at 10 o'clock this morning for tbe

Charles Breck who served three months
for failure te comply with the order of the

The funeral el William Stelgerwalt took
place Sunday afternoon, from the residence

largely attended and among these present
were the members of Metamora Tribe of Red

were conducted by Rev. C. L. Fry, el

at Woodward Hill.

Oeerge Herpel was beard en Saturday eve
ning en the charge et drunken and dis
orderly oendurt which wa dismissed en the
payment of coats. The cases et malicious mis
chief and surety of the peace wars continued.
Tha cases against Oeerge W. Bustard,
charged with assault and battery and drunken
and disorderly conduct, were dismissed.

On Friday at 11 a. in. Lawyer Leaman,
auditor of the defunct ( Hey's) Farmers'
bank, was at tbe Greene wait house te receive
claims from creditors. About 300 persona
were present and banded ever their receipts
of deposits. Heme persons lest heavy, but
the general result will boa very light divi

On Saturday evening about twenty-five
couple assembled at a residence In town and
shortly afterwards they were en their way te
the country, In Mt Jey township, about two
miles east of here. Tbe object wss te surprise
their young friend, Prof. J. 8. Moul, or Moul Meul
vllie, Yerk county, who is' at present teach
ing a school In the vicinity. Games of all
kinds were Indulged In, and later In the eve
ning everyone partook of refreshments,
which were plenteous.
A brother of Mr.Moul,wbe is visiting here,
rendered musle en tbe cornet, Mr, J. H.Meui,
en tbe violin, and Mua K. Lizzie Dlsainger,
presided at tbe piano. In the wee hours of
the morning the parties were wending their

Mr. C. B. Sberbahn, of this place, has taken
charge et tbe Newvllle restaurant, one mile
west of here, which waa recently occupied
by tbe late Jonathan Geed. It is a geed
stand and Is new under the supervision et
the right man, who bad, a few years ego,
been proprietor of tbe Exchange hotel in
Maytown.

pauy closed their week at Fulton opera

Tbe house was crowded In all parts. The

The silver prize was wen by Viela Miller,
who held the lucky number, 3,100.
At the King Btrest Theatre.
The first week of the King Street theatre
as a variety heuae closed en Saturday night
and It must be aald that it was a great success success
Theaudlenees were large at nearly every per
formance, but en Saturday night the place bad
by far tbe largest crowd of tbe week. Nearly
every Inch or room was taken up and the
show was lully as geed as at any time during
the week. Hiram Ultz received the prize, a

week. Among these who will remain ever

Milt a. Barlew, tbe Mlnatrel, in Jail rer
Deserting His WU.
Milt O. Barlew, tbe well known minstrel,
has been getting Inte considerable trouble el
late, and Is new in (all In New Yerk city, be
cause he Is unable te furnish f5,000 ball. He
waa arrested In a suit for divorce by his wile,
who Is living with bis mother in Rochester.
Barlew's wile aaya that ahe married Milt
when 10 years old In 1800. She had severs
thousand dollars of ber own, but when be
became of age, Barlew managed te get bold
or it and spent It all. Ue bad en
numerous occasions deserted ber and gene
away with different variety actors. Tha last
time be left waa In March, 1880, when be
went with Llllle Hall, et the HalNBloedgood
company. Since that Mrs. Barlew has been
compelled te pawn ber piano snd ether
things and she asks for a divorce. She asks
for a divorce, tbat the custody of ber two
children be given te ber, and that tbe de
fendant be directed te pay ber alimony and
counsel fees snd te support tbe children.

The discovery et the headless body en the
banks of a pond at Eddlngten station en
Thursday remains as deeply shadowed in
mystery aa ever, it had been definitely
shown that the body was tbat of a negre, and
that death was caused by violence within ten
or twelve hours before the body wss found.
Beyond this little haa been ascertained. The
pond has been dragged for the missing por
tions el tbe body, but without avail. The
mutilated trunk waa burled In Petter's
Field at Bristel, Saturday morning, and a
oeronet'e Inquest was held In the afternoon.
A t the inquest T. B. Jacksen, a constable
or Bensalem township, told s story which
msy furnish sn Important clue. He aaya
that en Wedneaday night a colored woman
who carried eeveral bundles, get oft tbe
train at Kddlngten. One el these package
wss very heavy, and she started with It In
search el a colored man In the neighborhood
butabe did net find blm, and then went
toward the pond. She was gene filteen or
twenty minutes, and after that disappeared.
Ne ene knows where she went te, and no
trace of ber baa been found. She bearded the
train at tbe Bread etreet station Philadelphia,
and tbe oenductor of the train corroborated
Jacksen's story, saying tbat he feel confi
dent be could identify tbe woman ifhesaW
ber again.
One or two ether theories were brought out
at tbe Inquest but tbe coroner decided te in
vestigate Jacksen's story before proceeding
further, and accordingly adjourned the In
quest until early next week.

dered his wife, Ada Beasley, and then cut

for several months. After ordering bis
breakfast te be ready in twenty minutes at a
restaurant, be went te where bis wife waa
living, effected an entrance by breaking a
window, and after a abort wrangle with ber,
cut her threat and ran 'from tbe beuse. Au
officer living just opposite tba scene bearing
tbe screams, started for Beasley as he left
the house. Tbe murderer, seeing he was
pursued, ran about thirty yards and then
stepped and cut bis own threat, dying al
most instantly. This Is the fourth double
tragedy which baa occurred in this city
within fifteen years.
