there waa a slight fire at the residence cf
Jeffersen Bllfxel, Ne. SB Jeffersen alley, that
for a abort time caused great excitement In
the family. Mr. BtlfTel had get out or bed
early and kindled a tire In tbe kitchen alove
with hmleck kindling and tben left tbe
room. Mrs. StlfTel was upstairs in bed with
her two children. She smelted smoke, and
hurrying down stairs discovered thit the

Au Old Lady's Accident.
Sephia Handy, an aged lady living In tbe
Seventh ward, tvat struck and knocked
down by one et tbe berres of Mrs. James
Stewart's team, at tbe corner of DukeanJ
East Kingstrcets, this morning. Mrs. Handy
was crossing tbe street at tbe time, and some
parties who saw her danger called te her,
but she did net hear them. She was taken
te the residence of Alderman Barr, where
she was cared for. She recovered sufficiently
in a low minutes and waa sent home In a cab.

One of the large panes of glass lu the dining
room window of the Reformed parsonage,

act can be assigned.

a large circle of friends. She bore her suffer
ing with Christian fortitude, and awaited
the 1 1 meet death with Christian resignation
and hope. Deceased waa 01 years old. The

community in this hour or affliction.
