man was Jacob Van Weett a farmer living

taking her In a piece of weeds and threaten

turnback. Sbe complied, and he rode be
hind ber and hurried her en. When a
quarter eta mlle from the house they met

neighbors. Tbe husband ordered her te turn
back, but she refused, saying! "1 would
rather die than co back te your home te live

old. His wile who had borne great abuse

out when the rise came.
At McCall's Ferry, twenty-two miles above
here, the Ice It reported te be gorged te a

situation here will become mere serious. In
anticipation of this everybody Is moving

A. Davis' mills, above, have been carried
past here by the floating tee. The people
here say that tbe situation la worse than hut
year en account of the way the Ice broke. It
leads towards this side, and If tbe solid tee
near tbe town gets broken by the lea coming
down It Is thought all the lower part of the
town will be in danger. The principal dam dam
age se far reported is the carrying away of
tbe depot platform and part of Ephralm
Cornish's restaurant Travel, except In a
limited space, Is by beats. Reck Run, tbe
