Dr. S. T. Davis vra the physician w he at

he wa summoned te Mr. Miller's home

He round the girl lying in the kitchen ; her

that lu tlie morning she went te the drug
store of n. IL Herr, en Mlddle street, near
I-ast King, where she purcbased a box of
" Heugh ou Hats." Upeu returning te Mr.
Miller's, she went Inte the water closet where
she swnllowed it teaspoonful or the drug.
The remainder she then threw down the

from tbe poison about " o'clock lu the after

01 MKLANrnOLV DISPOSITION.
A reporter of the I.VTELHOENCEn called
upon Mr. Mlller at hi residence this morn
ing. He said that the girl had been em
ployed at hi home for about ten woeks. She
was of a melancholy disposition and al times
seemed greatly worried and down-hearted.
Mrs. Miller had spoken te bereu tbe subject
several times with geed effect. On Monday
morning she seemed very low-spirited.
About 10 o'clock Mrs. Miller was upstairs In
the nursery with the children, and she thinks
that the girl went te the drug Btore at that
time. She had been washing during the
morning, but finally went te Mrs. Miller
and said that she was tee sick te opntlnue her
work. When Sirs. Miller found her vomit
ing she asked her what was the matter, but
the girl refused te tell. Mrs. Miller accused
her a number of times of taking poison, but
ehe strongly denied IL When Mr. Miller
came home In the evening between f and G
o'clock, he questioned the girl very closely
and Bhe finally admitted that she had taken
poison. Dr. Davis and Miss Hbeads' sister
Amelia, who Is employed at the Leepard
hotel, were then telephoned for.
Dr. V 11. Herr, at whose Btore the girl Bays
she purchased the poison, wa also -seen by
the reporter. He said that en Monday fore
noon a girl or young woman called at bis
store and asked for some rat poison. The
doctor asked her If she wanted "Heugh en
Hats," which was about the best ler the
purpose, and she said she did. It was given
te her, there was nothing peculiar In her
action te attract the attention of the doctor.
Had there been be ays be would net have
given the poison te her. His practlce is net
te register the nameaand addresses of theso
who purchase "Heugh en Hats." He does
in all cases where arsenic or strychnlne Is
sold. H isa dally occurrence te neil "Heugh

the aale made te the young woman until
Informed In tbe evening that a girl stated that
she had bought the poison at his drug store
and taken it te destroy her lire. The doctor
could net tell whether the deceased was the
person who purchased the poison or net, as he
paid but little attention te her.
The dead girl was almost nlnetecn years of
age. Her father says that she went te reside
with Mr. Miller In Hep tern ber or October.
She remained a short time and returned
home for a couple or woekr, but went back te
Mr. Miller's. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday
an 1 Sunday evenings last, she was at her
father's house. On Sunday she spoke of
leaving Mr. Miller's.
