passenger train of the Pennsylvania railroad

The car rapidly filled with smoke and the
manincharge was compelled te break open
the car windows In order te get fresh air. He
managed te give the alarm In seme way and
the train wni stepped at the water tank lust

en the burning baggace. Itwas extinguished,
but was still smoking when the train reached
Lancaster. Heiethecar was run upon tbe
siding under the Dukestreet bridge, and un
examination was inade. It wasieund that

tirely consumed. Twe pillows and some
ticking were destroyed and a let of acenery
badly burned. The goods were taken from
the car here and alter it bad been seen that
there was no mero fire, the car wasi attached te

8:10. The less te the theatrical company was
considerable, but had the fire broken out at
a point far away from a water station tbe car
would undoubtedly have been destreyed.
