An axle of a car In a freight train of the
Columbia & Pert Deposit railroad, broke at
Bhenk's Ferry yesterday while the train was
going south. This caused the car te be
thrown from the track. The wreck crew of
Frederick division went te the place of the
wreck and placed a new pairef wheels under
the car.
Last evening a drunken tramp was In the
yard of a residence en Chestnut street and
had several stones, with which be threatened
te break a large pane of glass. The fellow
was prevented trem committing this act by
one of the inmates who had considerable
XW trouble in getting him trem the premlies.

JIauietta, bept. '2L Mr. Albert BIssler,
of Maytown, received a consignment of 31
Indiana heavy draught colts yesterday
which he had bought in Indiana, and bad
hipped te this place. When the colts had
been removed from the cars and w era stand
ing outaide the stockyards, an east-bound
freight train came aleug frightening them
and causing a stampede, about twenty et the
colts ran down Frent street ahead of the
train, and the rest were stepped before they
could get away. The colts were ronewed
and recaptured before they had gene tar, and
were at length collected in the Marietta
stock yards, thence taken te Maytown. The
stampede caused much excitement in the
vicinity of the station for awhile.

had en exhibition at the state fair.
