Burten's Georgia minstrels were adver-
. Used for a performance in the opera heuse
last night, but at eight o'clock tvveuty.su
gallery tickets and seven parrtuet tickets had
been sold, amounting te JS.S5. This
aum was net considered sufllcicnt by
the manager, and the performance
did net come off. It wat announced
that money would be refunded at the ticket
office, when a crowd seen gathered about
that place. About eighty people demanded
money when only thlrty-three had paid ad
mittance. The treasurer remembered al
most all the purchasers te whom he refunded
the money. A large crowd gathered in the
corridor and Isaac liroeuie,ollicer at the opera
beuse, endeavored te disperse thorn. Twe
strangers in town get intea&cuille with the
officers, which lesmted In ene of thorn being
roughly handled and he received several
blows about his head with the cane or the
officer. Considerable excitement was oc
casioned by the Bcuflltng in the corridor.
The manager of the show claims te have
plenty or money te run the company and
they will keep en the read.
Bieka Her Cellar Hene.
Oracle Sberlzsr, a two-year.eld daughter of
Jeseph Shertzer, living en Fifth street, met
with a serious accident at her home last overl everl
ing. The child was walking about a room
and aecldently fell down the cellar stairs, as
the deer had been left open. The left cellar
bone was broken and bruises about tde body
sustained. The child was attended te by Dr.
Borntbelsel.

atreet ,was standing ou a cask, at the confec
tionery or F. W. Suearf, yesterday when the
cask upset, throwing the boy te the pave
ment A very severe gash was cut in the

Daring lastevening a young man was seen
driving through town at a very rapid gait,
bat be was net melested. About 11 o'clock
Mr. Geerge D. Redcecker found the herie
and buggy standing en the pavement near
Brend and Walnut streets, and the man was
beating the f ere in u terrible manner. Mr.
Redsecker took the tram iretn the lellew and
kept It in his livery stable until this morn
ing. It was the projerty of Harry Parks, or
Marietta, and showed signs of very rough
usage. The man came for the team this
morning In a sober condition.

James Rlcalten, a school teacher of Manle-
woeu, aanuui village near Kewark, N. J.,
baa just returned from a trip through Russia
en a tricycle. He lelt New Yerk en June 12
and reached Archangel early in July. Hav
ing supplied himself with passports be start
ed ou his "dorme wagon" for a trip of 600
miles. He experienced little (reuble en his
trip and arrived at HL Petersburg en Aucust
