Tbe report of tbe supply and repair coin cein
Bilttee was considered as fellows : A new
furnace, el tbe kind recommended, be bought
for the Fifth street building; 50 new desks
ordered for tbe room, Ne. 17; 30 new desks
for the new school, and ten new desks for the
grammar school.
The repair and supply committee were In
structed te baye the granite steps covered
with beards, te purchase CO paragon desks
for the secondary and primary schools from
A. U. Andersen .t Ce., of Philadelphia, ten
excelsior desks for tbe grammar school and
two teachers desks. Winds and slate black
boards were erdered for the recitation room
of the high school.
The recommendation of Superintendent
Ames was acted upon In a favorable man
ner and a new normal class of the primary
department was organized. All teachers, be
ginning with Ne. 6 school el the second di
vision of the primary department were ad
vanced one school, and Misses Kyde and
Beam, of last year's graduating class, were
elected teachers of the normal school at (15
per month. 22." cards were ordered te be

Last evening a young seu of Andrew
Shibe, living en Seuth Fifth street, was play
ing at his home when he accidentally re
ceived a fall, resulting in his left arm being
dislocated at the elbow. The fracture was
reduced by a physician.
Town Nete.
Lancaster people will have the opportunity
efaeelng tbe Columbia club en Saturday
afternoon. This afternoon the club plays a
game with the Sam Field's nine for the chatn-
Blensbip of Berks and Lancaster counties. If
le home club are winners tbe concluding
game will be played en tbe Ironsides grounds
at 3.00 p.m. II tbe Reading club win the
game the clubs will play an exhibition game
en tbe same grounds.
An adjourned meeting of council will be

Several large trees are being removed en
Walnut street. Yesterday afternoon a man
was walking down the street when a tree

The street crossing at Second and Walnut

Lancaster Clgarmaker Assaulted la limiting.

A young man named Heward Jacobs, who
came from Lancaster some v, eeks age te work
atclgarmaklngat Olaser A Frame's factory,
came down Penn street about 3 o'clock Thurs
day morning, looking as though he had
suddenly dropped from a land of snow and
the flak os had net yet melted from his cloth
ing, lie was covered with wbite limestene
dust from head te feet, and, In answer te in
quiries, said that he had gene te C. B.
Miller's park ln tbe early part of the night,
leaving the place te walk te the elty about 11
o'clock, but that when be was passing along
about where the old ball ground used te be,
be was attacked by three men, who knocked
him down and robbed blm of JO. Next they
stripped blm of bis coat, vest, bat and shoes
and went away, leaving him lay. Whether
he became unconscious or net he is unable te
say, but after a while he walked back te tbe
hotel and Informed the proprietor el the oc
currence, and .the two, taking with them a
lantern, came down tbe read again. The
clothing was ieund, but tbe men v, ere net te
be seen.
A Vainrnl Accident.
This morning about 9 o'clock Patrick
Welsh, a brakemau en the Pennsylvania rail
road, met with a very palnlul sccldent at tbe
cut-etl'near the big Conestoga bridge, lie
was in theactora&cendlng thoBteps leading
from the bumper te the top ofal'relghtcar
while tbe train was In motion. A sudden
jolting together of the cars Bhoek his leet
from tbe step and his right feet was caught
between tbe bumpers. The big tee was
crushed te a Jelly and it is tearcd that some
of the bones et the feet are also fractured.
Welsh was brought te the railroad baggage
room In this city where his wounded feet
was temporarily drowsed by Vr. Kbermau,
after which the tee was amputated by Dr.
Welchans, and the hiiUerer was. sent te his
home in Columbia, lie.is a slngle man.
Falsa Vretente ana Forgery,
Chlof Smith arrested Miller Sbissler last
nigbtinbed, at the County house, en war
rants issued by Alderman A. F. Dennelly,
charging him with false pretense and for
gery. It appears that seme weeks age, by
means of an order purporting te be signed
by a Philadelphia llrm, but which It was sub
sequently learned was forged. Sbissler ob
tained from E. F. Altbeuee, cigar manufac
turer, 10,000 cigars. The goods were Bhlpped
te Philadelphia, but passed into the hands or
Sblulerwbe disposed etthem. Shlssler re
mained away from tbe city from the time he
get tbe cigars until a few daya age, and when
Altheuso learned he was bark again he prose
cuted him. The prisoner was unable te fur
nuh ball and waa committed for a hearing.

Oliver F. Leed was prosecuted en Thurs
day by Jehn P. Geed, before Alderman Mo Me
Gllnn. Geed was Leed's bondsman, for the
faithful discharge et bis duties as an officer

kill county, received a unaulmeus call trein

Scared at a Traction Knglur.
On Wednesday as a traction engine was
being taken te the farm of Cel. J. L. Llght-
ner, Leacock township, ler the purpose of
running a threshing machine, It was met en
tbe read by a Mr, Swelgart. who with some
members of his family were In a carriage.
Mr. Swelgarl's horse took fright, tbe carriage
was upset and the occupants w ere threw n out,
Mr. Swelgert, who la an aged man, being
badly hurt. Mr. Denllnger, who was with
tbe traction engine, in trying te nslt Mr.
Swelgert, fell and was thrown under the car
riage, but was net much hurt.

This morning the Pennsylvania railroad
company ran a cheap excursion te Ocean
Dreve, Atlantic Ulty, long nrancu anu imj
May. The special train was run from Harris
burg and stepped at a number ofstatlens east
el Lancaster. It arrived here at 0 o'clock
with 130 excursionists en beard from up the
read. This number was increased by 37
Lancastrians, who are anxious te get a bath

The case was returned te court and will likely

result from that threat.
Geerge Walters has been returned te court
te answer tbe charge of stealing an acoerdeon
from Lewis Kepp, a blind man who resides
ln llreneman's court.

Twenty ears of Married Lire.
A. C. Leeuard and wife, residing at Ne. 11
West German street, celebrated the twentieth
anniversary or their weddlug last evening.
A large crowd gathered at their beue. About
10 o'clock Grand Army Pest, Ne, 105, or
which Mr. Leenard is a member, accempa
nled by the Liberty band, marched te the
house and serenaded tbe ceuple. All then
went Inte the house and had a geed time.
Successful Medicine Men.
The medicine company "A lib a band of
Indians which have been exhibiting and sell
ing their goods through the northern part of
this county, Is raking iu the shekels. Tbey
were in Manhelm two weeks and It is said

James Rewalt, who was well-known In
this city, the son el Dr. L. L. Kenalt, or
WrlghUvIUe, Yerk county, dled several
days age In Curry Oregon. A widow aud
three children survive.

The Weller and Herzeg families, who have
