Death and Funerals.
"Mrsf Sarah Meuk, mother et Jehn A.
Moult, tlled at the real Jenee e! her son, in
West llenipfleld township, near Klerlnel
station, at an early hour this morning. De
ceased was In the tilth year of her age, and
the death was the result et consumption,
from which she had been suffering for the
past three years, ever one year et this time
being confined te her bed. The funeral will
take place en Monday morning.
The run oral et the late Jehn 15. Hedman
took place en Friday afternoon, at one
o'clock, and was very largely attended. The
ledges te which he belonged attended the
funeral of their late member in a body, and
numbered nearly two hundred.'
The remains of the late Mrs. Anna J.
Kutter, mother of Mrs. J, 11. Murphy, were
taken te Philadelphia at neon te-day, ler In
terment in that city.

A young boy named Geerge 'legler, lUlng
ou Terry street, was playing In 'Westerman's
butcher wagon, during Friday afternoon.
The lad tell from the wagon, striking his
lower lip upon a sharp stene with such force
that the lip v as cut entirely through. The
Injury was attended te by a physician, who
placed several stitches In the wound.
Town Notes.
The niombers of the Hed and dun club
spent a very pleasant day en Friday at Yerk
Furnace. The dtnner at Urey'a hotel was
greatly enjoyed.
Oeorge Uallacber, a tramp, was arrested en
Friday afternoon by Officer liardnele for
drnnkonness and disorderly conduct. The
man was In the river, when his clothing was
removed by some boys, and be walked about

The Kecetered Team.
David L, Oarber, residing near Maytown,
Irem whose premises a horse and buggy
were stolen en Wednesday night, came te
this city this morning with J. Martin, his
hired man, te whom the herse belonged.
With Officer Iiarnheld they drove te McOov McOev McOov
eruvllle where they identified the team. The
buggy and harness were owned by Mr. Har Har
eor, When the thieves stele the team they
dreve It through a large Geld of growingceru,
and when it was recovered some pieces of
corn were found clinging te the running gears
or the vehicle. The team was abandoned at
McOevernvllle about 2 o'clock en Thursday
morning. It Is believed that the persons
who bad It liecatne frightened at the approach
of another team, when they stepped at the
tell-gate, and fled leaving the stolen property
behind.
Narrow JStcape from Death.
A young man named Ueorge Derwart,
driver or ene or the Reading railroad freight
wagons, had a narrow escape from death yes
terday. He leadod six cases of tobacco at the

the gutter at the corner of Orange street and

lie fell under the wheels and one of them
passed ever his legs. Strange te relate no
bones were broken, but Mr. Derwart Is very
sere te-day and can scarcely move. This Is
the same point where young Kissinger met

Christian Bruckart, of Salunga, this county,
who had a patent issued te him a short time
since for his improved animal trap, has also
been granted a Canadian patent for the same

Three hundred persons from this place
attended the Miennercher picnic at Peuryn
last Monday.
The Citizen's band gave the tlrst of a series
el open air concerts en Market Square last
Saturday evening, mid was largely attended.
The selections were finely rondered, and the
band deserves great credit and many thanks
for thus willingly entertaining the citizens.
It is rumored a new bank will be started In
this borough. Location en Market Square.

Next week extensive repairs will be com
menced at SL Paul's Helermed church. A
large pulpit recess 14xS root, will be built, the
choir gallery remeved and a choir platform
erected, circular pews and new walnut pul
pit furniture placed In the church ; the walls
will be frescoed In oil, and the entire church
carpeted. Gothic windows with rolled ca
thedral stained glass, will take the place of
the present square ones. The windows of
the auditorium will be memorial. This work
will be pushed forward rapidly during the
pastor's vacatieu, and when completed the
Hetermed congregation will have one of the
most beautiful churches In Lancaster county.
Rev. T. O. Stem, or Kasten, a former pastor,
will preach In the Hetermed church, this
borough, te-morrow (Sunday) evening.

Daniel Mclaughlin, whose death en I'rl
diy has been already announced, was born
In Big Dam, Lebanon county, his father be
ing a rallraul and canal contractor. When
17 years of age he served an apprenticeship
at carpentering In Lebanon, wbore he re
mained until his 13d vear. Then he rainn tn
Ltncaster and assisted In the construction or
ine court Heuse. He superintended the oroc eroc orec
tlon or the Franklin and Marshall buildings
snertlv afterwards. He was married te Mar
garet Selling, February 11, liIO. While the
deceased had been lu bad health since May,
1S5, his end was net looked ter yesterday.
In the morning lie was taken with vomiting,
which was partially relieved. In the after
noon he get out or bed te go te an adjoining
room, when he loll in the middle or Uie fleer,
expiring a few minutes afterward. The de
ceased was in his out year. His funeral will
