The streets are almost deserted; here and
there a pedestrian bugs the Bhady Bide, and
here and there an express or business wagon
rattles lazily along, the driver shielding him
self from the sun by a big yellow umbrella
and the Blew-jogging horse having a sunshade
ever Ills head.
The Belgian blocks are het beneath the
horses' feet, the brjck walls, beaten by the
sunlight, reflect the heat en man and beast
and add te their discomfort.
The streets are almost deserted ; the stores
and shops are altogether deserted, except
that a few clerkB and salesmen loll en the

Seme people go fishing and burn their
