Teledo, Ohie, July 23. The movements
of wheat te this point se early in Uie season
Is unprecedented, the receipts aggregating an
average of 400 hundred cars dally for the past
five days. There Is a scarcity of currency for
handling this vast amount of grain, sim
ply because the banks here de net seem
te have provided for such an early move
merit One of the heaviest grain dealers here
was compelled te held a consignment twenty twonty twenty

Seme Observations and SugirettleDS a te the
Treatment.
Dr. Orvllle Herwltz makes some sensible
suggestions regarding the treatment of sun
strokes, which just new are seasonable. Dr.
Herwltz bases his observations upon the rec
ord of fifty cases admitted into the l'euusyl
vania hospital during the months of July and
August, 1SS5. The lirst patient was received
en the 16th day or July, when the therraom therraem
eter marked a temperature offle- F. in the
sbade.
Treatment It is believed that the new
remedy, anfipirtti, was used for the first
time by Dr. Hnrwitz; it was glveu, in all
cases, In large doses, with the eliect of keep
ing down the temperature after it had been
reduced by the application of Ice, ice bags
and ice sheets te the surface ; it was em
ployed In the form of enemsts, but the
writer suggests that it would probably be
mero potent If used hypederuilcally. It was
net resorted te unless the tumperature
showed a decided tendency te rise.
Musi; tee, was first brought into notice by
the doctor. It seemed te be decidedly ad
vantageous In controlling the ilelence of the
convulsions. It was administered lu doses
often grains, and, by the time the ten grains
were given, the convulsions, as a rule,
ceased. This remedy was administered iu
sixteen out of twouty-euo cases of convul
sions, and in all these it was of marked aud
Immediate benefit; the violence ofthe attack
rapidly abated, and seen ceased te exist.
lijtia ammejitu, in doses of iive drops,
repeated as occasion required, doubtless
saved several cases, when the patient was
about te die from heart failure, when the
heart sounds were indistinct aud when the
puise at the wrist could with dliUculty be
felt.
Klher hypodermically acled as a better
stimulant than whisky; administered by In
halation It controlled the convulsions, acted
as a heart stimulant and improved respira
tion in a marked degree.
Meed-letting. One Individual was bled
from the arm te the oxtent el twelve otinces;
he died two days alter from meningitis.
I our persons were cupped at the nape or
behind the ears ; about eight ounces were
abstracted In each case. Tliey all recovered.
The Individuals iu whom bleed-letting win
resorted te were all btreug, rulbbloedod,
heavy men, with injected conjunctiva, the
veins el their necks standing out prom
inently, the pulse being full and bounding,
convulsions setting in early.
Dry Cups, employed lu sunstroke cases,
were valueless, but In these ali'ected by heat
exhaustion the benefit was well marked and
Immediate, the patients invariably regaining
consciousness alter their application.
-nncliircociie-iffifM, in twenty miuim doses,
administered when the patient was lirst seen
acted as an excellent heart HtimulanL The
pulse at ence became fuller and slower, the
heart beating mere regularly.
