Fer some time past engine Ne. 119, of the
Pennsylvania railroad, has been In the Col
umbia shops, undergoing very extensive
repairs. The engine was tlioreuelily over
hauled, and during yesterday was given a
trial trip, when all the machinery was found

On and after Slay 1st, the empleyes at the
shops and round house of the Pennsylvania
railroad will make ten hours per day. The
men are new making nine hours for eue

On Thursday evunlug an entertainment
Mas given In the Lancaster rink for the ben
efit of the relief fund of Geerge II. Themas
Pest, Clrand Army of the Kepublic. Pre
vious te the cuteilnluiiiHut the member of
the Pest marched from their hall, in Centre
Square, te the armory el the Reynolds rilles,
en East King street, and escorted the militia
te the rink. The performance began at
8 o'clock and by that time a very large
audience was present. The first part or tue
show opened with a medley by an orchestra
composed of well-known young musicians,
or the city. Maj. A. C. lleiuiehl lollewed this

spokeof the geed cause ler which the enter enter
tainmeut was given, and thanked these pres
ent for thelr generous patronage.
The Garden City trio, composed of Messrs.
Ifambright, Dreppurd and Krisman, snng
(everal geed selections. Prof. Mehn gae
some sleight of hand tricks and he was fol
lowed by " Rellly, the J'iddler." The act of
this man was n big feature of the show.
Iteilly came te this city from lUnlinsvillea
tow mouths age and since then he lias made
hlmseir well-known. He plays all the old
fashioned tunes en his tldule, aud although
he was well dlguised last night, he was seen
recegnired and hla playing whlle sing
lug his original songs, stirred up the audi
ence. Miss Mlunie Cogley gave a cornet
sole, in her usual pleasing Mylu. Hlie was
followed by the members of Company C, P.
N. Q., of this city, who gave uu exhibition
drill, under command or Captain flowers.
The young gen tlemen did their work remark
ably well. Their movements were very cor
rect and they were greeted with thunders of
applause.

with several comic songs, li.mlel Clemens,
Jr., gave a drum sole, and did it well. Upen
being encored he and Ills drum corps played
" Marching Through Georgia," and secral

Company C. The Grand Army men were

Death of jntlah Davlnh.
Jesiah Davish, an old citizen of Lancaster,
died at his residence en Coucerd Btreet this
morning at 5 o'clock. The causes of his
death were rheumatism and dropsy, aud he
had been in ill health for tecrul weeks.
Deceased was bem In this city. Fer
many years he carried en the manufac
ture of horse powers, separators, A.c,;at his
shop en Coucerd street, lie worked at
this up uutil lust wlntsr. At the tlme el
hi death he was 70 years of age. He
was twice married aud et the llrst wife's
children the following ate living: Jeseph, of
Philadelphia ; Luther, el Canten, Ohlej Mrs.
