A very large crowd was in the armory last
night at the meeting of the Salvation Army.
Tbe disorder at these meetings is nightly in
creasing. On several occasions seme of the
people present started te whistling and giv
ing various shouts.
A memorial service was held Sunday even
ing at CflO o'clock at the late residence of D.
Hanauer, en Walnut street. A large num
ber of the friends of the deceased were pres

Ames Lewis, living en Poplar street, has
two men working at the rolling mill, at his
house as boarders. On lest Saturday night
these men came te the house, and being
very drunk, created a creat disturbance.

Suit has been entered against them for their
behavior and they will be arrested.
A Bey arly Drowned,
In Wrightsvi'le, ea Sunday afternoon
about 4 o'clock, Mrs. Laura Snavely, having
been followed out of deer by her boy Drew,
aged 3, heard a sudden cry and found the lad
had fallen into the cistern, by reason et the
bad condition or the perch fleer covering it.
Her husband being called, came te tbe rescue,
plunged Inte the water, sured the child and
handed him te the frantic mother. Mr.
Flery assisted in the rescue.

The Metropolitan rink was open en last
Saturday night, attracting a geed-sized crowd
te the place. The persons present had a
very pleasant time and Miss Ella Stetson
fave another exhibition of fancy skating,
his was the closing night et the rink.

make their appearauce in the opera house en

William U. Dunbar, night dispatcher at
theC. D. ofllceof the Pennsylvania railroad,
is off duty en account of sickness.
Last Saturday evening James Spear, of
Lancaster, was arrested at the railroad sta
tion by Officers Gilbert and Kennedy, for
being drunk and disorderly, lie bad a hear
ing before 'Squire Frank and get ten days.
Dr. J. K. Llneaweaver is en a brief visit te
Philadelphia.
On Saturday evening Abbey's Deuble
Mammoth Uncle Tem's Cabin company will
appear in the opera house, en the manage
ment of General Welsh Pest. The treupe

She Wanted te Yell and 1)1(1.
On Saturday night, between 10 and 11
o'clock, ieeple residing en Ml 111 In street,
west of Water, were sUrtled by a woman's
screams and cries of "murder." The noise
was found te couie from a house en tlie
southeastern corner of Mitllin street and Arch
alley. Quite a crowd gathered at the house,
Which was finally entered. A woman, under
the Influence of liquor, was 1 j inf.- en her back
In the middle of the lloer. Although no one
was uear her she kept yelling llke a
Comanche Indian. She claimed te have been
bit by a man, but no inau was found lu the
house and the women present haid she had
net been harmed by any one, but was merely
yelling becauie she was drunk. The noisy
woman was finally taken away from the plsce
Jn a cab and housed lu another part et the
city. Several police elucers were brought te
the place by the noiae but no person was
arrested.

On Friday night about 10 o'clock n fire
broke out In tne honte occupied by Iltram
Dennlsen at Msytewn. llew It originated Is
net known, as Mr. Dennlsen and family
were net at home at the time. The fire was
discovered by neighbors who gave the
alarm ; this aroused the bucket brigade who
came in full lerce, and by working hnid,
succeeded In extinguishing the llre. It
bad already made considerable headway and
aene some damage.
