prieter of the Mechanics' hall, at the olllce of
'Squire Iran It, against n Columbia and n
tancaster man for being drunk and acting

Wlttlck arrested the men, and they were
given a h oaring at 'Squire Frank's last night.
The testimony was very cenlllctlng. The
case was settled by the payment of the costs.
Owing te the illness of the manager of the
electric light company, Sir. Urock, work has
net been progressing very rapidly in the mat
ter of eroding the peles, etc. They were te be
erected 10 days age, but this unfortunate clr clr
cumstance has delayed the work. The
work en the peles will be commenced en
Monday, July 20.
Tbohetwavo has struck town with full
force and yesterday and te-day have been the
hottest of the boasen. The approach of the
cool wave is eagerly looked ler.

The picnic of tlie United liiethren Sunday
school at Lititz yesteiday was a very pleasant

given n trial trip this morning. The trial
was very satisfactory.

been encamped in Maner township, wero ar
rested and brought te tow u by Coustables Dern
and Wiggins. Alderman Doen bflnt them
te Jail for a hearing. Among the party was
Tem Housten, an old rounder, who is woll well woll

were Pat Wertz, Jehn Phillips and Jehn
Myers.

hand enough is known te place the aggregate
population at about 1,300,000, an increase of
ever aquartoref a million in live years, or
'ii per cent. Jersoy City and Hudsen
county malie the best exhibit. The lncrease
in the county is about 60,000, and In the city
about 30,000. The population ofthe city is
about 162,000. and of the county 233.000.
Hsscx county conies next with n population
of 213,000, while Newark has 153,000. Camden
and Passaic also made large increases. Some
of the agricultural counties show a slight
dectcase.

The remains of Mrs. Kliza Krlchscn, wife

ducted by Rew J. Max Hark, the body was
placed in the retort and reduced te ashes.
The ashes will be removed te-morrow and
sent te her rolatives at Detroit. Deceased
was 6- years old and dled en Wednesday of
