Death f Adam Ilutter, n Well Known Old
Citizen of Salisbury Temikhlp.
Adam Hutter, an old and highly respected
citizen nt Sadsbury township, aged about 78
years, died at ills home in Smyrna, en Tues
day morning, from paralyslr, tthlcli be Had

he had a final streke a low days age.
Mr. Ilutter was a blacksmith by trade nud
followed it for many jiears. 1 f e also kept the

years, and afterwards bought another farm in
"Bart near Cooper's factory where he lived

a sister of Urisbin Skilcs, survives lilm, as de

Oeorge died seme years uga Mr. Skiles was
a member of the Masonic fraternity, and a
life-long member and actlte worker In the

A telegram from Washington states that
Wm, C. Coxey, of Lancaster, has been dis
barred from practicing befere the interior
department of the government, because of
his having exacted exorbitant fees from ap
plicants for pensions. Mere than n year age
Mr. Cexey was prosecuted and tried beiore
'the United Statosdlstrictceurtot Philadelphia
and although it was shown that excessive
feo? had been taken, he oscaped-cenvlction,
a strong feature of the delense being previous
geed character and igiiorance nf the law reg
ulating fees. The trial cost Mr. Cexey a geed
deal or money, and alter his acquittal, we are
told, he entirely gave up tlie pension busi

On Monday, Commissioner of Internal
Revenue Miller, telegraphed W. E. Crelg,
collector of tlie Third district, at Staunton,
Va., that by direction of the secretary of the
treasury his 1 cslgnatlen was requested. Mr.
Craig replied, asking by what authority tlie
secretary of tiie tieasury had made such a
request, and for ttliat cause it had been
made. Commissioner Miller telegraphed
that the resignation was requested because it
was understood in Washington that Craig
was simply att oiling such reuuest te tender it
As Mr. Craig had given no intimation of
an intention te resign it was concluded that
the commissioner' action was based en false
representations made at the Juternal revenue
department. There has been no further de de de
velopment in tlie matter, Mr. Craig still
holds the olllce. ,
