Antheny's church was visited by thieves,
and last night the arrival home of Dr. Jehn
J. Stewart prevented a burglary at the house
of his father, Jatnes Stewart, 210 East Orange
street, near Llme. The burglar entered the

and was about going up stairs when the front

senkep saw a man stealing up Llme street to
wards Chestnut, In a manner that betokened
that something was wrong. He followed
him, and when he saw him turn into
East Marien alley, he called upon him te
step. The man then started en a head
long run. Mossenkep flred two shots
at him, which only caused him te rodeublo
his speed. When half way through the alley
he stumbled and fell, but quickly regained
his feet.and lied into the alley en the east of the
honse occupied by Jeremiah Wright. Horehis
trail was lest Net long afterward, hewever,
Mrs. Bewman, who lives en the alley a little

Instantly Killed While Coupling Cars.
On Sunday morning Charles Dovore, of
Alteena, a llreman en a helper cngine en the
mountain division, whlle uncoupling his
engine in tlie tunnel at .the west end of tlie
Allogheny mountains, which was ahead of

and foil between the engines and was ter
ribly mangled. Death resulted immediately.
He was the son of Mr. J.M. Dovore, of Thrve
Springs, Huntingdon county, and has a
sister living at Hemplleld, this county,

This morning as a freight train was passing

Zach Beeth, a man who was well-known
In this city, died in Willbimspert a few days
age aud was burled en Sunday. Zach was
