the Easter thought comes in with uileeornteil
emr.eraparty of playful rabbits. Or wluit pos
sible) rolntleu exists between u M.75 satin inul
plush caril, having a Bummer lanilscape,
trimmed in oriental lace and tlie great Key
stoneef Chrlstianty. Yet tlicse seem te be
the chief Easter tokens that tlie inoderns
buy. A prominent bookseller inlouned a
reprcsentatlv e of the iNrui.i.inn.sci.ii that
the present call was for souvenirs like
naehete, bunches of Trench artificial Honors
with an Eiister card attached, and b-uineret
, cards.
The prices et the various cards and Icuick-
l knacks that are considered prepui lei Easter
' ' remembrances range, from ih e cents te four
dollars, the latter belng the cxtieme limit.
"While the high priced semenirs often show
much geed taste, albeit sometimes itheut a
particle of Easter appropriateness, it is a pity
that their prices place them beyond tlie
reach of the ordinary purchaser. It would
be well if a return te the old days could be
inaugurated when cheaper cards with fitting
designs might pass from lrieinl te
friend with no serious exaction en the purse.
Then the Easter and ether lielidjjs would be
brought home te mere peeple and their nig nig
"niflcance hae n wider nmuecLitien.
The boekstoros of O. Luther Een Dcrsniith,
Chas. II. Barr, Jelin llaer's bens, K M.
Flynn, and E. B. llcrr abound in pretty
trltles suitable for the season, with cost that
canbemadotesuitallinrioty el purcliascrs.
These exhibits aie all he pictiy that the
casual isiter who enters their stoics merely
te " leek around " ilnds hlmself a purclnvser
almost bofero lie understands the process by
which he reached that situation.
There Is no mere attracts e window en
East Ring street than that of High & Martin,
and altheugli they de net uiake an exclusUe

The confectioners ie with tlie druggists in
