Our gutters could hardly be much vorse than
tliey are at the present tlme, They are tilled
with Ice, which In many places ex tends a
.feet above the level of the pavement. All
this could have been cut out yesterday. Hut
it was net. What will e the result of this
carelessness T 'When a general thaw occurs
the gutters will be In no condition te carry
off the water, and pavements and cellars will
be floedod. Hut Columbia people live te

Jehn Welsh, aged II years, died from
