property near the Wliite Herse. As he pros
pered in business, he bullta new stonehouo
and carried en merchandizing ler sevcral
years. In 1S51 he removed te .Imcastcr,
nnd hi March 18,13 entered into co-partnership,
with Isaac I'. Ilcister, Jehn K. Heed,
ami David Sliultz as prlvate bankers, under
the linn name or Jehn K. Heed A Ce., their
office being in the building en the Northeast
corner of Hast King and Duke streets. In
March, I6O0, Mr. Sliultz withdrew from the
firm and the business was conducted bv the

Hctsl, Hendersen A Ce., In ISiie they pur
chased n property en Duke street oppeslto
the court house, and built upon it tlie fine
banking house of which they took possession
in Marcli 1500, and in which the business has

died, and the surviving partners purchased

Hendersen. In 15S2 Mr. Heed died nnd Mr.
Hendorsen continued the business assisted
by his sous J. Hepkins Hendersen and Wil
liam Hendersen.

Mr. Hendersen's sceondvvife was Anne
