body is horribly defermed, tbe hips being
drawn bank until they nearly reaeh tbe
shoulders, the bending of the spine draw

being evor thtee inches In circumference.
The anna nre but little larger than pipe

The body will net weigh as mueh as the

leek upon, being terribly out of shape, the
teeth projecting far beyond the lips. The
bair is flaxen about two feet long, very
oetrno, and lies In wild profusion around
the Iraduf the unfortunate being.
Fer Ncventecn years, slnce its prosent
growth, the girl has never been able te
meve her body, but can meve her hands
and feet, having little (strength, however,
in these limbs. At timts she shows sorae
intelligence aud can make her wants known

her veice resembling that of a parrot.
One peculiarity is that while lying in bed,
owing te the extraordinary protuberance
of the eves, Rbe ean fellow the movements

Hydrocephalus is oaused by the accumu

This report quiekly spread about the til

Tbe Seventh avonue hetel, the largest in
Pittsburg, was the soeno Friday evening
of a panle. The hotel fronts en Liberty

narrow wagon way. At a quarter before

KdmuudB & Sen, Tbe llames shot out
of the fourth window against the
baek of tbe hotel. The ohambor ehambor ohamber
maids and a majority of the lady guests
bad retired te their rooms. Tbe window
frames and oernloes commenced te burn
almost Instantly, aud there was a rush en
tbe part of everybody te get out of the
plaoe. Men, women aud a few ehildreu
ran through the corridors searching for the
stairway and ure escapes, Fortunately tbe
sraoke bad net penetrated tbe building
suuioiently te make these hard te ilnd, and
in a low seconds every person was en the
lower fleer or the street. Then they began

In the midst of this Mrs. Mauser, wlfe

I may add that lu no occupation Is a

herolne of " She Steps te Cenquer " bags

letting htm view her at eueh housowerk ?
My advice te girls, In cases where a desir
able young man happens te be a guest In
the house, la net te disdain all connection
w.'th household affairs, with the idea of
Impressing him with your tee goodness for
that kind of thing, but instead te find
some exouse for boeoming ohambermaids,
se that the visitors may soe you transform
a tousled bed into a snowy, aliek and
entrancing ene. If the job be dene
deftly it ia sure te be petent In its effect
en the fellow who beholds It.
Hut thore are things whieh are dangerous
for a girl te de at home in the presence of
her admirer. doing upstairs Is ene of
thorn. It is caBy enough te desoend with
sprightly graoe, but I defy any living
being in skirts te apoend without awkward awkward
nesi. In the curtent play at Daly theatre
two of the aets bave for a scene an in
terior In whteh a bread stalroase leads
directly baek from the rear. Tbe charac
ters go up and down unoeuntod times.
Tbe women are personating fine ladles and
wear the most fashienable of dresses. On
the stage level they are objeets of esti
mable regard; but tbe instaut they begin
te mount these dreadful stairs they be bo be
ceme camels, elephants, nuything that
walks groteequely with the hind legs.
They wabble from Bide te Bide, they strain
every gusset and seatn ia their olethes,
they threaten te burst their corset strings
their joints soem te iofuse all oustemary
action, and the eutlines prcsented by their
backs bear no soinblaneo te their normal
thapolIne8S. It is clear te my mind that
nature never intended that women should
go up tip-stairs, feri don't beliove an
angel, if fomluine, ejuld mount the
golden stair ether than absurdly.
