Rebert Treat Paine, jr., born In Taun
ten, Mass., in 1773, was the second Ben of
tae signer of the Declaration of Indepcn Indepcn Indepcn
denoe of that name. After seme oiperlcnco
as a merchant, nod later as a lawyer, he
became Infatuated with the tucatre,and do de do
termined te doveto blmself outlrely te the
drama and dramatic llterature. II e was
appointed " Master of Ceremonies" te the
Bosten theatre, then a salaried position,
and iu 1795 married a Miss Beker. an
English aetrcsA and a member of the Bes
ten theatre company. By this step be lest
his social position, which had bcen a hlpli
one, and became estranged from his fam
ily. He lived latterly a reckless llfe, and
died In 1811, a comparatively young mau.
He was n brilliant writer, and published
most of his best work under bis own name,
Tberaas Paine. But in 1801, te avoid being
confounded with, and by, tbe author of
of the "Age of Heason," he pe
titlencd the Legislature of Massachu
setts te be allowed himself Rebert Treat
Paine, jr., en the ground that "Tem
Paine was net a Chrittuin name."

Mrs. Lanr.t L. Ombam, of Baltimore,
gave birth a few days age te two girl?,
one of which when examined was found
te liave been born with a perfect net of
teeth and a fine suit of hair. Her
residence has been overrun with visitors,
attracted merely by curiosity. Emma, the
ene with the full sat of teeth aud hair,
died and was buried Wednesday, and the
ether, Lncinda Ellen, died en Thursday
rooming.
