The Christian who is nearest te the
Lord en Easter morning is the htpplest of
men. because he has entered most into
sympathy with Uim who is the Life in
deed ; and one of the compensations of in
creasing age is that, brought nearer and
nearer te the end of this atatje et existeuce
he may realire the growing aense of what
immortality means as illustrated iu our
Lord's roturreetion. The story of that
event is seen told ; but the emphasis put
upon it in the teachings of the
ehurch's service, its relation te the
interests of present life, the cheer
that it returns te these who are
straggling with adverse circumstances,
the absolute support and mainstay whieh
ceme te praetical religion from the fact
that Christ rose from the dead, that ull
shall surely rise as lie has risen, and shall
reap in the next life as they have sewn in
this there is something in these accumu

lnture of llfe for ene who has grown into
thorn. It is the yearly renewing or these
convictions, as it were, line npeu line that
finally makes ene feel such a realty in our
Lord's substantial identity with life and
with death that the obange from this
world te the next is net a snapping asun
der iU uroeious tiea. but rather the en
largement of all that Is real in llfe. The
great truth of Easter Day boceroes the
illuminating fact in one's personal oxpo expo oxpe
