undoubtedly is the Jehn Sewers who for
many years was a night watchman in this

unmistakably.
Tin history of Frankford has se often

expeili'iiccd jail broakers in thin country
nnd his reputation in that line is notorious.
In 1877 he was convicted of herse stealing
and larceny iu this county ami was senten
ced te 111 years imprisonment, He made
several attempts toescapo,cuttiug through
iron clad cells twice. Iu making ene at

he wns shot in the face by Cipt. Jehn P.
WtUe, wl e was then prison kceper. Frem
that wound he lest the sight of ene eye
outiiely. In the summer of 1832 he os
caped irem the shoe shop of our prison
wih a number of long term convicts. He
was recaptured in West Chester again,
escaped nnd was agalu captured, and after
helm; convicted en sixteen charges of herse
eteallng nud larceny, was sent back te
Lancaster te finish his term. In Ootebor
last, with cloven ethors, including the
Buz, nds, he escaped for the last tlme, nud
