A murder was perpetrated in the hills
near Cernlshville, Ivy., last Saturday
night. The victim, Mr Rebert C. Barurs
was a first ceus'ti of tlie Kev. Geergo O.
Barnes, the roeutitaln evaugclist, and
Tiiemas Elliett, ene of the perpetrators,
is seveuty years years old, and his pattner
in the tragedy was Ills seu, Stub i-lliett.
The Elliotts, father and son, were riding
aleug the pike en horseback, each seated
en a bag of meal, whieh they were taking
home from the mill. Near Cornisuville
thrv mat Rebert U. Barnes, also en horse
back and seated en a bag of grain which

arm, while Stith Elliett plunged a knife
blade twice into Barnes' heart. Barnes
