with fatlfjui', he took his ntatlen in the
sick room en the night of.! illy 23. Towards
morning he foil Inte u deze and dreamed
that his wlfe was dying. He aweke with
quickened pulse, turned up the gas, and
bent tpiietly evor the wasted form en the
bed. When he touehed his wife's chnek

" My Ged I The dream is trim 1 Bhe Is

The despairing cry brought frieuds te
the room. Kncellng beside the bed the

rolling irem his eyes, was trying te bring
lifu back te his idol. Bhe was net dead, as
he hail supposed, but only n llttle life ro re ro
tnained, and in a few moments the spark
was extinguished. Frem that hour Dr.
Hunter was an altered man.
He accused Dr. Ilroeks of malpractice
ntid demanded an investigation. Mrs.
Hunter's body was taken te Detroit by
her husband, and then it bacame ovldent
that his mind had completely broken
den n. He was kept under restraint for
tiome time, but was llnnlly allowed lit:
liberty when he appeared capable of man
aging his affairs again. Upen returning te
New Yerk he tciteratcd his charges
against Dr. Uroeks and clamored fur uu

Among the dead man's effects wero thu

name was scratched out, and ever it was

hand :
" This Uroeks is the man that murdered
myself and wife, and the public will new

Dr. UroekB returned te the city y ester

Mrs, Brooks said that Hunter enteral

When IiIb wlfe died he was determined te
