Frem private sources it is learned that the place for holding the Slade-.Mitchell prize fight has been agreed en. Tem Kelley, of St. Leuis, who seconded Jtyan in his light with Sullivan, was asked te leek about for a place where the fight could take place without fear of interfer ence en the part of the authorities, lie 8Ugge8ted the Indit.n territory, where there is no local law prohibiting prize fights, and where the United States laws de cot take cegnizance of any eflense ex cept assault with deadly weapons. This suggestion has been taken up, and Yinita, one of the most thiiving towns in the territory has been .selected. It lies directly south of Kansas City, and ceinc3 within the limit prescribed by the ai tides of agreement, which say the fight must take place within 290 miles of Kansas City. The threwd manipulators et the allair in selecting Viuita had mere thau fear of iu iu Tprfereuce by the authorities in view. Yinita lies upon the St. Leuis & San Fran Fran ciseo and the Missouri, Kansas & Pacific railroads, and is se situated that it will be easily reaehed by the crowds who desire te see the tight. They will have alins view of the encounter, as they have an enclosed fair ground at Viuita, with a large ampi theatre, in the centre of which the ring will be pitched. The reserved seats are expected te brine: quite a liberal sum te the gladiators, who will, of course, come in for their share of the receipts. Besides the regular crowd of the " fancy," who are alwaya en hand where the buttle piemises te be interesting, there will be a large local gathering and dele gatiens from the towns along the railroads mentioned. Altogether, the scheme which Slade and Mitchell have entered into premises a rich harvest, and as they are new both near the milling ground it would appear that they are alrea.ly getting ready te gather it. TOINGINO THIKF IN TJiNMKSSBK. A Fel!cauin Kunpecimi or Firing a Fatal shot Alter a Fugitive. A negre ua'med Jack Wade, alias War ren, was found in the negre settlement iu West Nashville, Tenn., last night, badly wounded. He had been shot through the muscles of the back, near the spinal col umn, the bullet passiug te and lodging in tbepit of the stomach. Seme time before that Policeman Owen McGovern, who was off duty at home and reading a newspaper, saw a negre coming along the street; with two bags of chickens. The policeman accosted him, but it seems that he had been satisfied by Wade's answer that things were all right. When Wade, how hew how ever, get a short way off he broke into a run down au alley, dropping bis bags. McGovern chased him aud shot at him . The negre ran half a mile, when the po liceman lest sight of Lim. McGovern claims that he does net knew that the negre wounded was the one he shot at, as he had net seen him. There is a question as te who shot Wade, and only an inquest will decide it. Wade was taken te the hospital, when it was thought he would die. A KOADSIDK AltlKUKU IN VJKUIMIA. JL Farmer Shet lci from tlie Seat of His vracen. A well-te de farmer, William F. Shep pard, was fatally shot en Fiiday night en the ceuutry read near Danville, Va. He had come te the city with a wagon lead of produce, and en returning was hailed when a few miles from the city by three negrees named Sawney Younger, Reuben Keen and Isaac Evans, who asked permission te ride in the wagon. On beiug refused one of the men shot Sheppard through the head and body with a pistol, while another steed by with an open razor in his hand. The wagon went en about twenty paces, when Sheppard fell out dead. The rob bery, and, perhaps, murder, of Sheppard's Ben, a boy of fifteen years, who was in the wagon, was prevented by the appearance of two colored men who heard the shoot sheet ing. Citizens of the county followed the three men te the city and had them arrested. At the preliminary trial Shep pard's son identified Younger in a crowd of men as the one who shot his father. Evans as the man who held the razor, and Keen as their companion. A BKKwrKV KUKNKD. Philip SebetlelM' Nw Building Burned at i!gg Harber. The only brewery in Atlantic county, at Egg Harber, N.
