A noteworthy event in Strasbarg yes
terday morning was the marriage of Miss
Ida Walker, eldest daughter of Dr. Isaac
Walker, dentist, te Rev. Charles Riggs, a
late graduate of the Laue seminary, Ciu
cinnati, Ohie, who graduated at Lafayette
college in the class of '78, in the senior
class with Mr. E. T. Walker, the brother
of the bride. Has been since called te
two churches in the town of Campus and
Emington, Livingston county, III. The
bride, Miss Ida Walker, has long been
connected with the Presbyterian church
and Sunday Echoel of the borough, and
will be greatly missed by the congrega
tion and her many friends. Four
maids of honor Miss Clara B. Walker,
sister of the bride, Miss Jennie Weeds,
Miss Hattie Leach and Mis Agnes Kenca
gy, of Strasburg, were in attendance. The
floral decorations were prefuse.many being
arranged in pleasing negligence in and
around the rooms. The bride was the-ie-cijiicut
of many valuable presents, many
of thorn being crisp greenbacks, varying
fiem ten te a hundred dollars. Bidding
farowell te their many friends they started
en an extended tour of two weeks, after
which Mr. and Mrs. Riggs will make Gin
cinnati their destination, en a Saturday
evening, where the many relatives of the
biidcgroem will detain them for a few

jury in the Star Reute case this morning
brought in a verdict of net guilty.
Cheers and Tears.
Upen the announcement; of the verdiet
cheers resounded from all quarters of the
crowded court room. Mrs. S. W. Dersey
sprang te her feet clapping her hands,
while tears streamed down her cheeks,
and there were many ladies in the court
wne were siiently weeping, s. W. Hersey
and Brady were the recipients of warm
congratulations, and were greeted with
renewed cheers as they left tbe court room
ey tue crowd outside.

In reply te an inquiry of Judge WyJie
a? te his health, Jurer Vernen stated that
hi lelt "first rate." The jury was then
discharged, and en their way ent of the
court room were beset by a throng of inter
ested persons, prominent among them being
the defendants and Mrs. S. W.Dersey and
Mrs. Peck, who thanked them for their
verdict with tears in their eyes. Upen
reaching the sidewalk the jurors were
again vociferously cheered. The foreman
stated te a representative of the associated
press that Gve ballets were taken, the
verdict of acquittal having been reached
at eight o'clock this morning.

tragedy. There is a large influx of the
rural population eagerly inquiring into
every particular of the horrible affair.
