Charleu Tjler Jjli)K Hloein Caused tiy Uie Terrible Lxplesluu. There is btill great excitement ever Meu day'H explosion at tlie Keystone oellery. Tlie colliery wears a mournful and gloomy appearance. It htautfs idle and is desei ted by eveiy ene bave the engineer of the pumping engine, which mubt be kept iuu iiinR te prevent iloediiiR. The couditieu of Charles Tyler, one of the victims, is most unfavorable, and while be bbewb a wonderfully strong constitution there is net a ray of hope for bis recovery. The deepest sorrow prevails at bis bumble borne where sympathetic friends and the grief stricken wife and six little children sit by the bedside of tbe dying father and husband. Tyler was an old and experi enced miner, andthose wbeate accustomed te beheld terrible sights about tbe mines say his injuries are shocking and beyond description. He has gradually grown weaker and iu all probability he will die before midnight, leaving a helpless f.imily iu peer circumstances. Coeucy Walter, another of tbe victims, li iug at liocktewu, a bmall patch near Locust Dale, wub the most fortuuate of tbe live men in the gangway. He is notdaugeieublybut veiy painfully burned. His improved couditieu hibt night indicated a speedy recovery. Nearly all the colliery empleyes live iu the vicinity of the mine and will net rebumc work until after the funerals of their de ceased companions, which will take place en Thursday. It is a timo-heuored custom at the mines when an accident eccuis te liiit work and remain idle until alter the dead are buiied, aud no matter bow press ing the demand for coal may be the uiineib canuet be induced te violate this well establibhed rule. -The case of Patrick llegan is particularly sad. He had only been a few days working at Keybtoue prier te tbe accident. He came te Keystone cellery from Tuscareia last week with bib wi(e and seven childi en, illy picparcd for the .sudden taking off of their euly sup port. Honesty Kewardcd. The huntsman of a well known English pack returned home lately by rail in a third class carriage iu which weie already five men, and, as he entered, seeiug a par cel of thin papers en the lloer under tbe seat, he picked them up. Leeking at them and then at his companion", he asked if any gentleman had lest a bundle of papers. Each inau said "Ne," aud the huntsman handed the bundle te the station master, saying, " As they seem te be bank notes, I had better leave them with you." The men agreed that be had done right ; but after a time, oue begau te feel his pockets, aud with many iinpio iinpie iinpio catiensou his stupidity, announced that he had lest a bundle of notes received that day at market. A discussion ensued as te what was te be done, aud it was agiccd that the best thing was for the owner te get out at the next station, take a hank. aud go back as bard as he could. As the victim hurried off, the huntsman laughed a quiet laugh, and said, " I thought there would ba ene rogueeut of bix men. It was a bundle of play bills." A Chase After Armed Trampa. At Easten, thiee tramp", Themas Train -or, William Harris aud Jehn Phillips, entered the Ebie hotel, yesterday and made themselves at home in the dining loom. They were ordered out and ad journed te the bar room, whence they were rejected. They threatened the p-e prieter, S. S. Keller, and in z, few hours returned, bent en mischief. They demand ed drinks and were refused, whereupon two of them snapped leaded pistols at th j proprietor, but the cartridges did net ex plode. A fight followed and Phillips was arrested. The ether two escaped, but were followed by the police and after a lively chase Harris was captured. Trainer is still at large. Three ether tramps who had been in company with the lirst three were also arrested. Phillips and Harris are charged with assault and battery aud attempt te kill. i Great Cocking Main at .Norfolk, Va. A great cocking main was opened yes terday at the Norfolk driving park in the presence of a large number of sporting men from New Yerk, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Betting was quite brisk. Tbe weights of the cocks ranged from 4 pounds 2 ounces te 5 pounds 4 ounce?. The heeling for Philadelphia was done 1 y Pat Carrell and for New Yerk by T , Kearney. There were Ave lights. The first was wen by Philadelphia, and Gptham carried off the prize in the second, third and fourth tilts. The fifth was wen by Philadelphia ou a scratch, the New Yerker's spur being slightly defective. The fight is te be continued te-day, and will probably end en Thursday. The terms are $100 en each fight aud $1,200 en the odd. XrfiBs Sentence for Pickpockets. At Syracuse, N. Y., Joe Parish, the no ne no terious pickpocket of Chicago, was sen tenced te eight years in the Auburn state prison Tuesday afternoon. He will be taken te Auburn te morrow en an early train. His friends representing the thiev ing fraternity of New Yerk and Chicago are still there, but have given up all hopes of secnrinir hid rnlennn. Thnrme "Ve:i ene of Parish's accomplices, was sentenced te five years. James Conners, also one of the men concerned in the robbery, was sentenced te one year. The judge showed him seme merey, as he paid $550 back te Deles Jehnsen, whose pocket they picked. A VALUABLE MEDICINE. Hunt's Remedy. Its Many Merits.
