A HUNGABIAni TKAUKDY,
The Terrible Itcnults et a Sudani rortuue rertuue
A peculiar sad and shocking domestic
tragedy is reported from the town of I5a
tyn, in Hungary. The keeper of a doss dess
ing en the East Hungarian railway near
that town happened te win a few days age
some hundreds of florins in a lottery. The
peer fellow, who had never seen such a
large sum of money in his life, took the
bank notes home and amused himself in
turning them ever, forming plan
upon plan for their disposal. All
at once a train was signalled,
and he rushed te his pest, leaving
the precious roll behind him. As ill luck
would have it, his little daughter was
playing in the 100m at the time. Stiuek
by the peculiar appearance of the notes,
having rarely if ever seen one before, an
net knowing anything whatever of their
value, she piececded te use them p..-; a
plaything, and presently flung thorn into
the lire, where they wcre burned te abbes.
Just then the father returned, missed the
notes and learned what had bu
come of them. In his fury he stiuek
the child a violent blew which stretched
her lifeless en the fleer. The mother
who was giving a b.ith in an adjiinini:
room te her second child, an infant.
rushed in en hearing the distm bance.
picked up the little gill and tried te :e
store her te conbcieusutss. Hei t-flVnis
were vain ; the child was dead. She flew
te the bath in which she had left the in
fant. Anether shock awaited her the
child was drowned in its lialh. The
childless mother, distracted and dcspe:ate,
rushed out of the LeuiiO and hanged hei -self
en the branch of a tree. The
wretched father, overwhelmed with mis
fortune his fortune gene, his wife anil
children gene seized a revolver and jut
an end te his existence. Tite 01 ti-iti
completeness of this tragedy piv.n it
certain air of unreality, but the Hunga
rian journals vouch for the exact tiuth of
these details.
