By this tiuie we have icaehed the be

Rots te be pretty warm, we leek after the
bush bean, the beets, the early sweet
corn, the bquasb, cucumbers, the melon
family, preserving cilien, followed by Hie
erer popular lima beau.
We give these hints as meie remindeis
and are intended for the benefit of people
with small gardens and especially iei
young beginners. Thcie are many ether
email matters te be thought of as we pie
gresB in our little cieps that will occur te
us, and which we will avail euite'res el
if we have the space and llir tiiue te give
I hem a shale of our at trillion. One mero
thing we would Etiggcht. is that theie aic
several crops that ulieuld be lcpcatcd as
the season moves along, in elder tbat we
may enjoy them through tbe summer, such
as the delicieus sweet com, peas, the hush
bean, &c.
Uncevering: Strawberry KcdK.
The uncovering of straw ben ies should
be attended te at once . iu laet, when
March is mild it ought te be done by the
middle of the month. Only tbe ceniscst
portion of the covering, with any lumps or
old weeds, should be rcmuvid, and, wheis
it is practicable, the ground slightly
stirred. As seen iu Aptil as tbe soil will
admit of it, the surplui plants should be
taken out and transplanted temporarily,
se tbat in case you aic of a " fmgal
mind," they can be sold ; otherwise, you
can give them te friends. Setting out
new strawberry beds is usually done iu
August, but there is nethiug te hinder this
, work in the spring, say at the end of April
or beginning of May, when it was ncglcctt d
last fall, 'and it will be sure te uive .en a
full crop the following year. Very iaiu.
. pant growers should be 'planted iu iev-'is,
the plants being bet from fifteen te eighteen
inches apart and the rows at leant two feet.
The dwarfcr varieties should be planted
from twelve te fifteen inches each way aud
allowed le run together. We piefcr the
latter method a- yielding the most aud
largest fruit, from the yeuug plants always
taking mero or less the place of the old
ones. A bed should be renewed about
(every three years ; some peeple rcuew
C every two years ; but we lravcceuhuwd
them for four te five years. It will all de-
pend npen the appearance of the bed and
tbe exercise of a geed judgmcut.
