FBKNVH FANCIES IN GOWNS.
Berne Elegant Velvet Kobes and a Costume
of Snowdrop Satin.
New Yerk Evening Pest.
Among some unusually elegant Parisien
dresses made by Werth and Grauge and
Magenties and designed for some brilliant
festivities following closely upon Easter
week, are several velvet robes, one of
palest green with court train, drapings of
a magnificent pattern of ducbesse lace and
petticoat of white satin embroidered with
sweat-pea blossoms and vines. Anether
is of delicately tinted mauve velvet, with
a superb network of white Bilk chenille
and pearl beads draped in a shawl point
across the front. In ether materials a
dress of pale canary satin is made in
Watteau style, with the double box-pleat
carried te the left shoulder, from which it
falls unconfined and mingles with the
bouffant drapery in.tbe back. Seft sheeny
nun's gray seems te be a very fashionable
hue, as costumes of this shade are shown
in Otteman silk, satin brecbe, moire
cashmere and tulle, the latter being made
up ever silver gray satin with trimmings
of cream white lace and pink roses for
garniture for young ladies and with costly
black lace for their elders.
Toilets of white and geld is another
French fancy. An exquisite toilet in this
combination is of snow drop white satin
fgured with tiny golden butterflies p r h
d en half-opened roses of geld. The
bodice and train are of brocade with pan
cls;0n each side reaching from the hips te
rucbing en the under-dress ; these are
lined with pale geld satin, and from under
neath the panels are brought scarfs of
white Venetian lace, which are caught
together with pearl clasps, the wide ends
falling ever the tablier of white satin
which forms the front of the skirt and js
laid in flat kiltings.
A. KEUKKAN1 HUSBAND.
A leans Jewess la Searcn
Partner.
of Ucr Missing
Mrs. Lasar Arnowitz, a young Jewess,
asked the New Yerk police yesterday te
leek for her husband, and told a strange
story te Superintendent Walling. She
was married at Tilsit, in Eastern Prussia,
in 1877, and has one child, a girl. Her
"husband was a cabinet maker, and
in 1880 he came te America penniless,
but by peddling be accumulated
enough money te pay her passage
ever a year later. They went te Minnea
polis and St. Paul, and eight weeks age,
when she thought they were en the high
read te fortune, her husband took $3,000
and her jewelry and left her, saying he
was going te Stillwater en important
business. Twe weeks age, at Minneapolis,
the Rev. Merris Fredman, of St. Paul,
served en her a notice te show cause why
a decree of divorce should net be issued
against her before the Rev. J. L. Siskind,
rabbi of the congregation Mikre Thera,
Ne. 52J Eldridge street. New Yerk. She
eame there and learned that her husband
had token up with another woman and
proposed going te Australia with her. She
bas been unable te find him. She is new
with a family named Pelandsky, at Ne.
40 Division street. The police can de
nothing for her, and her sole remedy is in
a criminal suit for abandonment.
Silly Students.
About a week age a dispute arose be
tween two students of Columbia college,
New. Charles 31. Smith, of 31G West
Twenty-third street, and Rebert Mahan,
of 108 West Ferty.fifth street. The lie
was given and the insulted man struck
his opponent. Mahan was the man struck
and he immediately sent J. W. Belline and
Matee Tajorde, two friends, with a chal
lenge te Smith. The latter accepted and
t named Charles Cress and Wm. Alcott as
his seconds. The challenge was te fight
with swords, but Smith objected and de
manded pistols. This was agreed te yester
day and a little island en Leng Island
sound named as the tine and place of
meeting. By some means, Dominge Par Par Par
toee, a mutual friend, learned of what
was te take place and informed police
Captain Chinchey, who arrested all the
bloody thirsty party, except Smith. In
court they were held in $1,000 bail.

breathed that I dared scarcely move, and Hie
seemed very burdensome. 1 was treated ler my
malady by the best physicians.and derived no
benefit from their treatment or prescriptions
until I was advised by my family physician te
use Hunt'? Kemedy, as my trouble was caused
by Inaction of my kidneys, which affected very
seriously the action et my heart. I com

any ether medicine), and it bas helped me
wonderfully, and I am new a, great deal bet
