The indictment has three counts. The first charges him " with wilfully, maliciously and feloniously setting fire te and burning the Newhall house at night, causing the death of Themas B. Elliett, David G. - Tower, Rebert Hewie, Kate Conners, Lizzie Anglin, and Libbie Chellis." The second count repeats the first and adds that the building " was owned by the Newhall house stock company, a corpora tion created and existing by and under the laws of.Wiscensin." The third count is a repetition of the second, with the ad dition that " the building was leased te and occupied by Jehn T. Antisdel." Elverson, arrived in Milwaukee, from Manistee, and reported te Captain Jehn Fitzgerald that 70 men were poisoned te death Sunday in a lum ber camp near Glencoe, Mich. A new cook had just commenced work and the first batch of biscuits he mixed with a can of strychnine, used le poison wolves, by mistake for baking powder. The deadly biscuits were eaten by every man in camp and 70 out of 80 died in horrible agony, no physician being near and nobody being familiar with antidotes at hand. The story seems improbable, but is given for what it is worth. Capt. Fitzgerald says the news comes from reliable seurcesand he believes it is true.
