Lust Boys.
Last eveuine Charles and Ira Young,
two sons ol Henry Ycmag, residing at
South Queen and Vine streets, whose ages
are 8 and 4 years, while playing wandered
away irom nome. They became separated
and the oldest resolved to stay out all
night to look for his little brother. This
morning he found him sleeping in a new
bouse which is being rfectedby Daniel
Sing aj South Queen and Uonestoga
streets, and took him home to the great
delight of the parents, who had been
searching everywhere for both and were
greatly woiried.
An Ugly Accident.
Cooper Siubbs, who resides at Row
landsville, Cecil county, Maryland, just
over the line, but formerly a resident of
this county, met with a serious accident a
few days ago. He was cutting grain with
a reaper, when the horses ran off throwing
him out. The knives struck him, cutting
him terribly about the legs and head. His
injuries are quite seriouB.

The Lancaster county Pharmaceutical
association held a meeting Thursday
afternoon, in G. A. II. hall. The new
Pharmacopeia, the proposed pharmacy
bill, and matters of practical interest in
pharmacy and the manner of conducting
the drug business, formed the topic of
discussion.

Alderman McConomy this morning sent
to jail three men arrested by Officer Wash
Pyle for riding on the freight trains of the
Pennsylvania railroad company.

London, July 15. Admiral Seymour
telegraphed at 11 o'clock: last night that
the lire in Alexandria was not spreading
and that nearly all looting had stopped. A
force of Germans have landed to protect
the hospital and a party of Americans to
establish a consulate.
A dispatch to the Manchester Guardian
from Alexandria says the bombarding of
Tuesday almost exterminated the Egyptian
corps of artillerymen, which was the best
branch of the army.
London, July 15., 1 p. M. In the
House of Commons this afternoon Mr.
Chamberlain, president of the board of
trade, confirmed the rumor that Mr. John
Bright has resigned tbe chancellorship of
the Duchy of Lancaster.
Sir Charles Dilke, under foreign secre
tary, said the government has no inforrna
tion as to Arabi Pacha's position.
Order Restored In Alexandria.
London, July 15 1 p. m. A dispatch
to the Standard, dated Alexandria Satur
day morning, says : " It is now possible
to walk tbe streets without an escort.
The cafes and shops are reopening and
confidence is generally reviving."
Admiral Seymour telegraphs at 10:20
this morning : " I am organizing a police
force as fast as possible and I have oc
cupied the gates and two forts."
The Times in a leading article this morn
ing says: "Whatever conclusions Mr.
Bright may form in regard to his duty in
this great crisis, he will be treated with re
spect, but we hope that no divergence of
opinion will definitely sunder him from
the men with whom he has so long been
associated."
Mike's Declaration.
London, July 15. 2, v. m. In the House
of Commons this afternoon, Sir Charles
Dilke in reply to the question whether
steps would be taken to intercept Arabi
Pacha on the road, said " our proceedings
relate to Alexandria. The other matter
is for the powers to tako action upon it."
A thousand more mariners have been
ordered from Malta to Alexandria.
Thirteen Hundred Cnrlstlans Haved.
London, July 15.-2:30 p. m. An
Alexandria dispatch to tho Times says
thirteen bundled Christian refugees wore
saved in the Copti church during tho mas
sacre. The fires in the town wero un
doubtedly directly instigated by the prin
cipal supporters of Arabi Pacha and not
by himself. After the looting commenced
the soldiers attacked the original plunder
ers and robbed them of their' prey.
Arabi Out of Harm's Way. '
Arabi Pacha during the engagement was
at Foit Napoleon, which neither fired ntr
received a shot. After tho Gring had
ceased be rodo through the town accom
panied by Mahommcd Lami and other
ministers. Subsequently a party of soldiers
deliberately sot tiro to the French con

The Pall-Mail Gazette of this evening
says Mr. Bright's resignation is not likely
to be followed by that of any of his col

Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Swept
Away by the Destroying Element Somo
of tbe Principal Sufferers.
New York, July 15. The loss by the
fire at Washington and Vestry streets last
night was confined wholly to the property
of the Holbrook manufacturing company,
and the factory building in which
it was contained. Tbe?o losses are total
and foot up the sum of 8205,000. The
amount of insurance is $124,850. Tie
Moller, Syrup company, Washington
street, was supposed to bo a heavy
loser. Investigation to-day, however,
showed tbat its machinery, engines, etc.,
were safe and intact. As tbc stock of the
conceru bad just run entirely out there is
practically no loss according to Mr. Moller's
own statement and no insurance. The Hol
brook manufacturing company estimates
their losses as follows : Stock $110,000,
machinery $20,000, office furniture, $6,000.
The full amount of their insurance is $99,
350. Tbe building was the property of
Isaac O'Dell cx-presidentof the Mechanics'
bank. It cannot be replaced for less tban
$60,000, and as it is totally destroyed the
loss is put at that Ggure. It is covered by
insurance to the amount of $35,000.
Among the companies said to bo interest
ed, are tho Greenwich, $1,000, Merchants,
$249, Broadway, $10,000, and Continental,
$7,500.

is estimated to be between $6,000 and

$43,000 which are chiefly by water. Louts
C. Glover, cords and twines, who occupied
a portion of the first floor of
243 Pearl street and also the first floor of
No. 18 Pearl street, had his stock
slightly damaged. He was insured for
$10,000, which will more tban cover his
loss. The Photo-Electrotype company,
who occupy the upper floors, of tbe Cliff
building, say their losses are comparative
ly trifling. The insurance companies are
busy trying to estimate the exact amount
of the loss.
Big Fire in Oregon.
Portland, Or., July 15. A heavy lire
was reported yesterday at the town of
Colfax, Washington Ter. No particulars
have been received as yet, but it is esti
mated that tbe loss will not fall short of
$150,000. Tbe heaviest individual loss is
$35,000.

in dismissing all oases of violation of the
Sunday liouor !law is practically an offi
cial announcement that the law is a dead
letcer, yet in view of the feelings of a large
class of citizens they recommend tbat on
next Sunday the saloon keepers do not
defy tbe law. but keen their front doors
closed, and conduct their business without
noise or confusion, which might be offen
sive to others.

Drowned Himself la a Bala Barrel.
Milton, Pa., July 15. William Wilson,
aged about forty-five years, committed
suicide last night, by drowning himself
in a rain barrel bead downward. Cause,
partial insanity. He leaves a wife and
seven children.
Suicide by Knife and Pistol.
Newark, N. J., July 15. Two suicides
oscurred here last night. A milkman
named John Augstman cut his throat and
James S. Williams shot himself. Both
men were deranged and the latter was out
of employment.
