A special from Madcna, Minn., gives the details of an extraordinary double murder hv n. liev 16 vcars old. whose mind has lienn neisnued bv trasbv novels. One of the murdered men was Edward Washing ton, a land surveyor who had been m the flmmr.v enlv about two weeks. It is said he came from Bay City. Mich. His age was about oe years. Nothing is known of his employers, but it is supposed that he was in the employ of seme pine land operators. The ether victim was a young man, 23 years of age, Lee Fehren bach, a Gcrmau, in the employ of Wash ington, recently from New Yerk city, and who had been living in Perham three or four months. His only relative in this country is a sister living in New Yerk city. They left Perham Thursday, May 25, stating that they were ceing te leek after lauds. They were supplied with a tent aud camping outfit, maps, &c. Suuday, May 28, they .topped at the house of Jehn Dornbusch, a larmcr living near Red River. They arrived there about 10 o'clock in company with Jehn Tibhiti.a boy about 10 yeats old, whose parents reside in the neighborhood, and with whom the de ceased men had stepped aud left a part of their outfit the day before. Tibbcts car ried a denblcbaneicd shot gun wuicn he had borrowed that morning of a neighbor named Richaidsen, one barrel of which was leaded with buckshot and the ether with fine shot. Tibbits started oil in the timber, leaving them at Dornbusch's They staid there te dinner, leaviug thore at 1 o'clock, and stating that they wcre going te section 12, a pine timber land, carrying with them an axe, a Smith fc WS5ens revolver, and each having a silver watch and chain. They did net return. Search was made for them, aud their bodies were found, one en Friday and one en Saturday morn ing, .1 line anu , aoent ou reus apart. Washington was found with a gunshot wound in the back of his head, with his pockets rifled, his beets and hat gene, his maps and plates lying en me greunu. oo eo oe side him, together with a pocket compass. The body of Fehrcnbach was found about 20 reds north of the body of Washington. It was horribly butchered. The ground about the body indicated that the man had made a hard fight with his assail ant. His threat was cut aud his skull broken by a savage blew from the axe. The bodies wcre brought te Perham Saturday, and County Attorney Corliss and Corener Bedford were immediately summoned by telegraph from Fergus Falls. They arrived at Perham early this morning and have been holding an inquest ever the bodies of the murdered men to te dav. YeumrTihbits made his appearance in Perham en Monday, the next day fel lowing the murder, with plenty of money, which was unusual for him. lis purchas ed a new suit of clothes, had his picture taken, and exhibited a watch, chaiu and revolver. He offered the watch te several persons, stating that he was going west te Mentana, and that he would like te sell them. He finally sold the watch and chaiu and took the train west, as it is supposed. The testimony before the eorencr's jury disclosed the fact that the watch, chain and revolver that were in his possession were the property of Washing ton. He had in his nossessien about $5. The hat, rubbers and stockings worn by Tibbits Sunday were jeunci near tue bodies of the murdered men. Other strong circumstantial cvideuce points un mistakably te the guilt of this youthful victim. A pest-mortem examination was made by Dr. Newcemb, of Perham. Four buckshot were found in the brain, and an extensive fracture of the skull of Washing ten. The body of Fchrenback was literally hacked te pieces, mere than twenty cuts, ranging from the full breadth of the axe downward, were found. The skull was crushed in and even the ribs were cut through with the axe in the hands of this human fiend. The body of Washington was buried by order of the coroner and that of Fehrenbach by the Catholic church of Perham, of which he is a member. The coroner's jury returned a verdict that the deceased men came te their deaths at the bauds of Jehn Tibbits. As seen as the bodies were found Justice Roth Reth Roth pletz telegraphed te all towns west nn ilm Northern Pacific and officers were immediately sent in pursuit of Tib bits, who was arrestea in msmara, u. i., and taken back te the scene of the murder. He confessed, in part, by saying that he wx? net alone in the affair. fntlntteipnia. Market. faiLADitrniA. June 7. Fleur dull, but steady ; Superfine.
