great powers in that line are decidedly
blue." The still unsettled cigar tax
question (that e'f manufactured tobacco
being determined), the floods in the Seuth

our market remains in a torpid condition,
and only small parcels for immediate use
change hands.
Unless the quietness iu the market gives
way te activity seen holders of old tobac

line," will find difficulty in making pro
fitable sales. The new crops are gradually
matuiing into that state in which their
futuie worth can be determined with souie
certainty.
Pennsylvania and Wisceusiu are new
considered as the best of the '81 crops.
Some of the New Yerk state is exceedingly
line, while Connecticut is as yet of a very
pieblcmatic nature. Ohie leeks like its
predecessor, fiery-and gummy. The sales
of the week were as fellows :
Pennsylvania Crep :80 : 500 cabes ;
fillers, CJ te 7 cents; low running, 12 te
14 cents ; medium, 18 te 20 cents ; line
running, 22 te 24 cents. (Only 100 cases
of fiue were sold.)
