Ou Satmday evening the ceiiiegatitiii
of the L'nien Bethel paid a visit te then
pastor, Kev. O. W. Scilhamer, taking with
them a vaiiety of tekcus of their esteem,

useful articles. Mr. Jehn A. Abraham
acted as spokesman for the visitors, and
the pastor replied in a few appropriate te
marks, thanking his fiicnds for their unex

diction by Elder Swenk.

On Saturday afternoon as a gentlnman

Queen street near the Washington engine
house the heise turned suddenly around
and broke one of the axles of the buggy te
which he was attached. The driver was
spilled out, butnethuit.
Yesteiday morning there was lather
an exciting runaway ou King street. A
lad named Dougherty was driving a veiy
spiiitcd mare belonging te Philip Lebzel
ter, and being unable te cnntiel her,
she ran oft' and threw him out
of the buggy in which he was riding. She
lan along the pavement en East King
street for some distance, and, coming in
contact with a heavy signboard in front of
Jacob Adafis's restauiaut ciushed it te
pieces, upset the buggy and became de
tached from it, and ran at full speed out
West King street, and as far as the fu st
gate en the Columbia pike, wheic she was
caught. Dougherty was net much huit,
the mare escaped injury, and the Luggy
was a geed deal bieken. Mr. Leb.elter
had given te Deugheity pei mission te
drive his old heise. a stcriy goer, but the
young man made use of the mate, histeid
and was unable te contiel hci.
