Oscar Wilde Feasting.
Lunching With Kate field and Dining With
Sam Ward.
Mr. Oscar Wilde lunched Wednesday
afternoon with Sliss Kate Field, the presi
dent of the Ce-operative dress association
in her business offices, at Nes. 31 and 33
West Twenty-third street. The aesthete
and the mediste net en Friday last. Miss
Field was charmed with the uncommon
young man and expressed a desire te cul
tivate his acquaintance. Hence yester
day's entertainment. Miss Clara Merris
and a few special guests posed while Mr.
Wilde creund the edge off his keen appe
tite. With many reerets the apostle left
the buildinc te robe himself for a dinner
at the house of "Unde Sam" Ward. Ne,
85 Clinten place. Fer the Hist time since
Mr. Wards occupancy the odors el the
kitchen pervaded the atmosphere of his
apartments. In the parlor extension
covers were laid for eight. The table was
graced with a mammoth bed of flowers,
the central part being composed of lilies
of the valley. Immaculate lilies peered
cuiieusly from beautiful bouquets which
were placed about the room. Twe spot
less calla lilies tied together with a crim
son satin iHiueii were placed at Mr.
Wilde's plate. The llewcis were the gifts
of the female adtniiers of the aesthetic
young man.
The gentlemen who bat around the fes
tive beaiil were, besides the host and his
guest. Mr. William M. Kvarts, Mr. Sid
uey Webster, a nephew of Daniel Web
