Abe Prosecution Cleres antl Defendant aid Scevilte Open en the Other Side Law j or Robinson Retires Frent the Case. Washington, Nev. 21. The crowd about the court house this morning was three times greater than en Saturday. Guitcau's guard consisted of three men besitlcs the two officers en the van. Ha seemed te have recovered from his scare, and attributed his escape te the Deity. Uptju being brought iute court he made u demonstration. Sir. Kobiusen called attention te an ar ticle in the Pett, in which Mr. Sceville was made te say that Robinson's withdrawal from the case was necessary. Mr. Robin son requested the court te grant his dis charge. Guiteau remarked tbat-hc wautcd Rob inson in the case, and said that he sympa thized with him. Mr. Sceville deplored the disagiement, after which Judge Cox relieved Mr. Rob inson. Sceville started te tell the court that they expected assistance, when Guiteau exclaimed that he wanted Judge Ma gruder, Mr. Jehn D.Tewnsend and Messrs Swett and Trtule of Chicago. He then added that in reference te the question of malpractice his idea was that by the phy sicians' statemcnten July 25 the president was thought net te be (atally hurt. He desired te have it go en the record that the court in banc might take notice of it. The district attorney then called Drs. Woodward and Lamb, who testified that President Garfield's wound was mortal. They also identified the ball. The pros ecution then rested their case. Guiteau was allowed permission te be hcaid iii the opening of his case. Guiteau, retaining his scat against, the whispcied request of Sceville, began by saying that he had iiethtnir mere te say than was published in his address last Monday. He appeared as his ewu counsel, and would make corrections as the case went en. A misstatement he could deny when it was put. At the proper time he would go upeu the stand and be examined aud cross cress examined. Guiteau's manner has changed markedly. At the conclusion of his short speech, he settled back in his chair with an air of exhaustion. Mr. Sceville then addressed the jury at length. His argument delivered in commonplace manner without the slight est attempt at oratorical effect was that the questions for the jury te consider were whether or net the prisoner killed Garlield and if at the time he was responsible for his act. Without- concluding he request ed the ceuit te allow him te liiiisu to morrow. The request was ,. granted and court adjourned. Gtiitcau'H Alleged Absallant in Jail. William Jenes, charged with sheeting at Guiteau, was this morning sent te jail in default of $3,000 bail. SIIOCKINO TKAGEOlES. next ruction et 1: ill ire Families. Uevicit, X. II. Xev. 21.
