In the year 1871 a party of gentlemen, all f.f whom wcie Knight s Templar, met in the Allegheny cemmandcry, Allegheny ciry, and formed themselves into a society aud adopted the name of Ciusadcrs. Their object was te visit Europe in a body. Fifty-eight persons left America for the Old Weild, and after visiting all the piin cipal places in England, Scotland Ireland and Wales and the southern portieu of Europe they returned home. It was then they banded themselves together for the purpose of keeping up the fratcin.il- rcla li.jiis that then existed. Once every year a banquet was te be held at a given placs and they were all te meet and cenvcr.-c ever past events. Last year their" annual supper was held in Chicago, and at that time tliey decided te held their next one iu Columbia. Last evening that pleasant event eccuried. Out of the fifty five eiigiual members but four teen were present. Seven have died and the lcmaiuing thirty-four were unable te be present en account of their business. The supper was held at the Franklin house and at 8:30 they sat down for a geed time. The places for the departed ones had been prepared as though they wci e expected te be present and cards, draped in deep mourning with the deceased one's name handsomely engraved, were placed at each plate. Mr. E. K. Beicc was a member but is new resting with the dead. Speeches and toasts were made aud songs sung, and in every way conceivable they amused themselves. About twelve o'clock the paity bioke up, aud this morning the gentlemen returned te their diffeient homes. The guests arrived two days before the banquet was held and dining that time under the guidence of Mr. A. M. Rambo, also ene who was with the Euiepcan party, they visited every place of interest in and around Columbia. Te say that they were pleased is putting it in a light way. The surety of the peace cases brought by Sarah Kissinger against Emanuel Shay and Sarah Shay were heai d before Alder man Barr last evening, aud the accused were held te bail for their appearance at court. The charge of disorderly conduct made by Ames Fraelicli against Sarah Kissinger was heaid before Alderman Samson and the accused was sent te jail for three days. Henry Fisher, charged with robbing Mr. Kauffman's mill: wagon, had a hearing befeic Alderman spurrier, and was dis missed, the prcsccuter failing te identify him as the boy who was dogging the wagon en the morning of the robbery. The statement that young Fisher had p:o p:e viuusly been arrested for till tapping is net true and the charge that he had stolen Mr. Wolfe's pigeons was disproved. Frederick Meults was arrested by offi cer CeyJc last night en suspicion that he had been stealing chickens as he had a bag thrown ever his shoulder. The officer was mistaken, but no harm was done, as Meults is wanted te answer for an assault. and battery en James Smith. He was held therefore for a hearing before Alderman McConemy te-morrow night. Jehn Bryson, arrested by railroad efli cer Pylc, for interfering with him while in discharge of his duties, had a hearing last evening before Alderman McConemy and was dismissed en payment of costs. The mayor's levee this morning was graced with three guests who wcic suita bly entertained in the station house last night and dismissed with a benediction this morning. A man named Allen Fisher was ar rested at Leaman Place by Officer Pylc this meruine, for drunken and disorderly conduct, aud brought te Lancaster. This afternoon Alderman McConemy commit ted him te jail for 10 days This afternoon Sarah Kissinger, who was committed te prison last evening for three days by Alderman Samson, for being disorderly and disturbing the people re siding in the neichborheod of Fulton and Lime streets, was taken before Judge Liv ingston en a writ of Jiabeas corpus. Neither the magistrate nor Ames Froelich, the complainant, was present this afternoon. The woman was discharged ; the court telling ber that she must net come before them again or they will net be se easy with her. Upset. Yesterday evening, between 7 and 8 o'clock, as two countrymen were driving a mule team en North Queen street near Walnut, the animal shied and ran the buggy, te which he was hitched, upon the high bank of earth, new obstructing the street at this point. The vehicle was upset, the men were thrown out, and both wc-re a geed deal' battered and bruised. The mule with the buggy lying upon its side, ran up North Queen street, beyond the market house, but was stepped by the crowd of firemen gathered in front of the Washington engine house. A special dispatch from Davenport, Iowa, says that the steam boat Gilchrist started from that place at 10:30 o'clock last night with a large cargo, twenty three passengers aud liftccu of a crew for up the river. The river was very high and turbulent. "When the steamer ;et above the bridge span ning the river, between Davenport and Reck Island the cam reds of the engines gave way. The machinery became unman ageable and the beat turned and was dashed a-'ainst a pier broken and upset. A panic endued and a ruli of scalding .steam badly injured many per sons. There were scventecn in all lest, but at this hour their names cannot be as certained. The accident was entirely due te carelessness and liquor. He was at once taken before a magistrate and held in $1,500 bail te au swer.
