Since the last publication of our fruit list, we have for satisfactory reasons changed our opinion with respect te a few of the fruits which it contained. But in re gard te the list as a whole we can see no just grounds for disturbing it. Indeed we de net see hew it can be improved for this section of country, or as a general list for all the Middle States. Some of each of the t eparate selections may net de well upon enejiremiscs that will succeed ad mirably en another. Each grower must find out for himself the particular apples, pearr, ice, especially adapted te bis soil and location. This can be easily done by inquries of these who are successful fruit fruit geowers, whose soil is somewhat similar te their own. According te our present preference, we eheuld select the following for our own planting, and all of which we are new growing mere or less successfully : Standard pears. 1. Giffard ; 2. Doyenne d'Ete ; 3, Early Catherine 4, Kirtlaud ; 5, Bloodgood ; C. Summer Julienne ; 7. Tyson ; 8. Brandywine ; 9. Bartlett ; 10. Belle Lucrative ; 11. Manning's Elizabeth; 12. Seckel; 13. Hewell; 4. Anjou ; 13. Shelden ; 1G. St. Ghislan ; 17. Lawrcnce ; 18. Heading. Fer these who may desire a smaller number, we should select ; 1. Gif fard ; 2. Early Catharine ; 3. Bloodgood ; 4 Tyson ; 5. Bartlett ; C. Belle Lucrative ; 7. Seckel ; 8. Lawrence ; 9. Beading. Tbey ripen in about the order they are arranged. In tbc above list, from Ne. 1 te 8 arc sum mer varieties ; from 9 te 1G autumn (early and late;) and 17 and 18 winter, thus af fording a sufficient number for each of the periods of tbe best known sorts for this region. Dcvai f Pears l.St.Micbael d'Archaugel; 2. Baitlett ; 3. Cornice ; 4. Restiezcr ; 5. Die! ; G. Tvsen ; 7. Belle Lucrative ; 8. Lawiei'ce ; 9. Ott ; 10. Louise Benne ; 11. Bosc ; 12. Bousseck ; 13. Gleut Mor Mer ceau. Apples 1. Maiden's Blush ; 2. Bald win ; 3. Smokehouse ; 4. Northern Spy ; 5. Smith's Cider ; G. Fallawater ; 7. Cor Cer nell's Fancy ; S. Red Astrachau ; 9. Wag ener ; 10. Perter ; 11. Gravcnstciu ; 12. Tempkin'6 King ; 13. Rexbary Russet. We add te the foregoing list Terapkin's King and Roxbury Russet, both most ex cellent varieties ; indeed the King is re garded by some as unsurpassed. North ern Spy is also restored. Peaches 1. Crawford's Early ;2. Hale's Early ; 3. Yerk's Early ; 4. Old Mixen ; 5. Crawford's Late : 0. Ward's Late ; 7. Smock's Late : S. Susquehanna. There isnoselid reason te change this list se far as it gees. We suggested te peach grow ers te favor us with a list of t leir own aud a few did. but where they differed from ours we did net deem an improvement. Grapes. 1. Telegraph; 2. Concord; 3. Hartferd ; 4. Clinten ; 5. Salem ; G. Rogers' Xe. 32 ; 7. Brighten. We have added te the list Ne. 32, which, should it maintain its present character, will be the very best out-deer variety cultivated. It is a beautiful pink, or rather maroon, col ored grope, and at limes is transparent. It bears regular crops yearly with us. Clin Clin eon, in the foregoing list, is only for wine, and is piebably the very best for that pur pose. We also add the Brighten, a maroon color, as premising well. It is, however, a small berry aud rather straggling buuehes, but almost pulplcds, and of ex cellent quality. The Prentiss is another new grape, somewhat larger than the Delaware, of geed quality aud scarcely a preceplible pulp. It premises te take the lead of all the white vaiietics. The bunches a e compact and of fair bizc. We have net tried it. Cherries 1. May Biuarrcaui 2. Belle dc Choisy; 3. Itfack Tartaiian; 4. Black Eagle ; 5. Black Hawk : G. Ellen ; 7. Dewner'sLate ; 8. Early Richmond ; 9. Early Purple Guignc ; 10. Del. Bleeding Heart. The ripening of the list will range from the earliest te the latest, thus caus ing one through the whole cherry season. Ne one can go amiss iu adopting this list. Raspberries 1. Hernet ; 2. Hcrstinc ; 3. Philadelphia ; 4. Braudywine. Strawbei ries 1. Captain Jack ; 2. Seth Boyden ; 3. Sliuplcss : 4 Triemphe de Gand. Cimants 1. Black Naples; 2. Red Dutch ; 3. White Grape. Tiicse three varieties are the best among the different colors. The Red Dutch is a icgular bear er ami is of better qualify than any ether. Thcic are ethers larger, but they are mere acid. The white grape is transparent, of geed quality, and ought te be mere gen erally giewn, but it is net a great, bearer. Gooseberries. 1. Houghten ; 2. Down ing. Thes-3 are the two best gooseberries grown in this country. They bear every year heavy crops, are free from mildew, and are of excellent quality. They are large enough for all practical purposes. Keep clear of the giants and their big prices, anil especially of foreign varie ties. Blackberries. 1. New Reclicllc ; 2. Missouri Cluster ; 3. Wilsen's Early ; 4. Snyder. The Snyder, a new Western blackberry, is highly spoken of at distant points, bvt wepiefer te wait another year before recommending it, in the meantime giving it a trial. We shall probably fruit it this year. It is better that these who intend te cultivate fruit and have 'e make pur chases, te take this list with them te the nursery, andadhcie te it as far as possi ble. In selecting fruit trees, or any etheis, be careful te chose these with smooth, healthy-looking bark, have entirely shed their leaven, and have plenly of small fibrous toots. Trees en which the leaves remain after frost sets iu, and stick te the branches in tbe spring, may be regarded as net healthy, and in some wiy lacking stamina.
