Every chair is vacated en the instant.
Every cye is fastened en the hog' rooting
in the gutter, and every man Hatters him
self that he can guess within a peuud of
the porker's weight.
"That hog will pull down jist exactly
190 pounds," says the blacksmith, after a
long squiut.
"He won't go an uunce ever 183," adds
the cooper.
"Fvogeta$2 bill that says that hog
will kick at 210," says the hardware man.
"Yeu must be wild," growled the gro
cer; "I can't sec ever 150 pounds of meat
there."
Twenty men take a walk around the

less. What breed is this hog?"

"Well, I've seen some e' them iJerk
sheers that weighed like a lead e' saud,

guessed that this hog will weigh 900? ''

"Well, that's a leetle steep, but I've
kinder set my idea en 330. "

driven te the hay scales, and the silence is
almost painful as the weighing takes
place.

Growls and lamentations smite the even
ing air, and stake-holders pass ever the
wagers te the lucky guesseis, chief of
whom is the owner of the hog.
