In the Senate te-day the usual motion te go into execu tive session was lest aud the trenite took up regular business, namely, the reselu -tien for election, etc. Mr. Legan is new en the fleer making a speech in refutation of the charges which have been made aud which he characterized as slanders, that he at any time sympa thized with secession. He read in support of his denial of the charges a letter which he had received from Senators Lamar and Pugb, who served with him in Congress at the outbreak of the war, beariug tcs tcs timeng te his (Legan's) loyalty te the Union at that time. He also quoted from speeches made by him te show his opposition te secession and challenged anybody te show any speech in which be bad upekld tbe rebellion. He denied ex plicitly the various charges that he bad raised a company te join the rebels, and read letters te prove that these charges were absolutely false. Teung Uejarnette Acquitted. Danville, Va., April 19. The trial of Themas Dejarnctte, for the murder of his sister, was concluded at neon. The jury after a retirement of twenty minutes, brought in a verdict of net puilty, because of insanity at the time he committed the act. After the verdict was announced there was a demonstration of applause in the court room which was promptly sup pressed by the sergeant. The verdict seems te meet tbe approval of the community pretty generally. The prisoner was remanded te jail te await the further action of the court. Longstreet, Dear Lengttreet, Come Heme.
